*Ways To Help The Channel*

The concept of birthstones has become quite the industry since the turn of the last century. However this practice has deep and long standing roots. Many believe that an association exists between it and the Breastplate of Aaron (or Breastplate of Righteousness) but the truth extends far deeper...

Rubies have been one of the most precious gemstones ever to be recorded in human history. Their definitions has changed mineralogically over the last few hundred years, but they have still held an intense fascination for so many people. The ruby itself is a variety of corundum. The crystalline form of aluminum oxide. There are a few different types of corundum but at the end of the day, rubies are highly desired! Crystal specimens of rubies are a collector's dream

Thank you for your content! Have always loved cool rocks and gems and cut gemstones! Not to mention jewelry! Love the beautiful treasures that the Earth has brought forth for us to fashion into our own wearable art forms and to enjoy whether left natural or refined and crafted into a beautiful object. ❤ 💎

Ruby or sapphire...

Well, seeing as I had multiple variations of 'ruby cobalt' in my very, very early internet usernames, I'm going to say it's a tie for me.

Oh wow, back in like 1992 or 1993 I was given a book that laid out the birthstones, and it had the fact that certain cultures would sew rubies into their skin for protection - I haven't seen that book in close to 30 years and that page popped back into mind as you explained that part. Wild.
(Learned from same book peridot is also called evening emerald due to supposedly changing colors in lamplight. I have cut and uncut peridots, never figured out the color shift they were talking about)

I do like rubies conceptually, I like the deep red ones, don't own any myself, I think (def have a lab made ruby spinnel, have a red stone in a different setting but not sure what it is).

"Don't do that!" almost turned into a drinking game this time lol, which, in turn, could also be said "don't do that!" if it starts adding up XD

Very cool though, ruby was almost my birthstone (it's pearl now). But my Homestuck self keeps thinking that having the comic's zodiac Cancer-related character have a lot of blood themes ties in nicely with the July birthstone having a lot of historical ties to blood. Don't know if that was intentional for the character, but it works either way :D (Also, wish I could pick a side, but sapphires are gorgeous and rubies remind me of said character, so... I'm stuck, lol. Unless I say emerald because that's the Pokemon version I got XD)

In your opinion, what is the ratio of natural:treated corudum stones?
Thank you.

To bad there’s no corundum in the Oxarks. Is there? I’ve found bits of red sphalerite 😅

I'm partial to the color blue so I have to go with sapphires. Final answer.

I'm new to your channel & I'm now a new subscriber !! I'm impressed by the work you have done to find the history of the Ruby. Rubies remind me of my mom. Her birthday is in July. So if you want to think about the blood ties to this gem mom's pass on their blood to their children. Just something I was thinking about during your video. Thank you for doing these videos !! I hope you have ALOT of fun with these gems & an amazing day !!😊
