Michael Cohen and everybody else knew that the judge was going to issue an order along those lines in some form, even though Cohen has not said anything in his interviews to prejudice the case. He has been careful. Judge Merchan is laser-focused, and don't want to give the defense anything to use on appeal, so he had to make an official order.
