Royal Marines Put Future Commando Force To The Test In Cyprus! • LRG(X) PART 1

In late 2020, the largest-ever deployment of Royal Navy ships took place in Cyprus, with more than 1,000 sailors and Royal Marines testing and developing new ways of responding to crises.

As part of Littoral Response Group (Experimentation) (LRG(X)), personnel used the waters, shores and exercise areas of the island to see how drones, autonomous equipment, new technology and kit can transform the way Royal Marines operate.

We were given special access to parts of the exercise, from which elements of what personnel have been trying out could be incorporated into the Future Commando Force.

Great clip. Respect to the filming and editing, finally some shots at night that show some reality. It is also refreshing to hear an informed presenter rather than the usual stuff you hear people ask the military “are you guys missing home”. A great piece of work by all involved. The commandos getting the tone and image spot on.

Nice to see Royal back at the sharp end. The Aussies have been on top of this for decades so glad to see the Bootys come back to 'Commando' roles.

Great to see the development and implementation of this capacity, but can we still deploy in parallel a full 3 Commando Brigade for expeditionary missions?

The Canadian C8 Colt Carbine rifle has been issued to the Royal Marines of 43 Commando Fleet Protection Group, part of 3 Commando Brigade. ... However, other Special Forces units already use other weapons, including the C8 Carbine.
"The SA-80 is a highly capable weapon which remains the individual infantry weapon of choice across the armed forces."

"The small procurement of C8 rifles is for a specialist role performed by the Royal Marines in 43 Commando.

The Royal Marines keep making their career recruiters’ jobs a lot more easier with these inside videos that show what the lads kinda get exposed to, and what opportunities they’d have the chances to work on if they enlist/commission with the Marines.

What about the Paras? They were always touted as the hardest & toughest lot in the non-SF ranks, why aren’t they getting this amount of training or modern tech to showcase their craft, & bring in more candidates to their fold, or are they? but the info is being kept confidential? Who’d know.

Unrelated comment but I met the presenter. She's nice.

I think that there were also some Cypriot forces involved in this exercise as the vessel being assaulted is flying a Cypriot flag, this may explain the Scar etc

What the size of the Royal Marines these days?
I know it used to be 7000 personnel, but that was a decade ago before the major defence cuts.
