A moron with a GED can pass the police entrance exam and get a badge in half the time it takes to get a barbers license so the job attracts desperate idiots, military washouts and anti social thugs. It's one of the root causes of institutional police corruption.

We saw the post you made on Facebook in 2007 expressing interest in being a police officer when you grew up...

"...narrowed it down to 738 other applicants." - must be a small town.

"That's what they make breaks and lunches for. Just make sure its a mild strain." 10/10

It reminds me of that recruiting scene un Stripes.
Recruiter: Have you ever been convicted of a felony?
Recruit: Convicted? No.

Ironically the increased fear of unqualified cops has led to an increase in unqualified cops 🤣

Police are so desperate to hire people now that they gave my dad a speeding ticket and an application at the same time. The officer had police employment brochures in his car I kid you not.

I actually remember sitting for the police exams about 10 years ago. The competition was insane and without a military background, you almost didn't stand a chance. Funny how things changed so drastically

As a former, now retired, police background investigator and recruiter I can confirm the 2010 scenario.

“Just make it a mild strain” has to be the best line ever

“Any felonies?”
“3.”
“Yeesh… anyone die?”
“Not yet.”
“Great!”

This sounds about right considering how many cops are quitting or retiring early

7 years ago I applied and was in the final stages for being accepted to the academy in my hometown back in San Diego. But they took a few months too long and I ended up taking a job with a mining company in Arizona. Fast forward to now, I’m alive, married, 3 kids and make over $100k a year, plus quarterly and end of year bonuses. Plus I only work 14 days a month. Very blessed for the delay at the police department.

Police Department: " Do you work well in tense situations? "

Recruit: " No I freak out. "

Police Department: " You're hired!!! "

This brings back memories. Getting a police job back then was like pulling teeth, now you couldn't pay me enough to be a cop.

I remember when this is how they recruited soldiers for awhile. Violent assault that’s fine as long as no one was murdered.

Back in 2018 I got declined by Dallas PD despite having military experience a college degree, and a squeeky clean background record as well as zero drug history. The reason was I reported I gave away pain pills that I didn't want to take to my barracks buddy after getting my wisdom teeth pulled. It wasn't the fact I gave them away it was because I reported it was around 3 and it turned out to be around 9. My bad memory of something that happened 10 years earlier when I was 18 saved me from getting picked up by what turned out to be known as the shittiest department in Texas. So bless them for having those high pre 2020 standards 😅
