How To Break an OLED

How tough is an OLED? this was a faulty Panasonic TX-55EZ952. It had severe screen burn, I wanted to see how delicate they are. They're more robust than I thought, the screen flexed quite well without breaking. I've seen lots of broken LCD TV's from impacting damage and poor handling. I'm usually quite nervous when handling OLED TV's so this was quite interesting to me.

The person on the screen display looks like he saw the projectile coming and then going.. at 3:09 . Thanks for the Demo-lition, It looks like a well built display without the abuse. Cheers !

Regarding burn in it really depends on your use case. As a TV running 24/7 with news channel in bright room an OLED is a no go. For watching movies and playing video games every night / late evening (less hours, no max brightness needed) there is no problem. My LG B7 is 3 years old and there are no signs of any burn-ins. But as I said - I am using it ~4...5 hours per day and I am not pushing it hard regarding brightness (my eyes hurt otherwise 😅).

Thanks for this. I recently treated the family to a C1, and while I'm still terrified that one of the cats is going to use the top edge as a springboard or the dog is one solid wag away from wrecking the bottom half... this video shows they're at least as durable as a decent LCD.
Really surprising.

hi, while I'm mounting the panel with support, I have positioned one of the 2 side object polystyrene (don't remember if left or right) between the side screen and the table to raise up the base. There's the risk that pressure of panel with the polystyrene has damaged the screen ?

funny coincidence at 3:02:
The man speaking in the tv looks at the spot where the Jenga block hit

Thank you for this. I was actually quite scared of OLED because of the flexing capability.

I had to take down a 55 " samsung Q95t from the no gap wall mount, which has got to be the most difficult mount to remove a TV from, I had to put alot of pressure on the TV to get it off, I was scared I'd break it, but it survived without any issues, I've got a 65 inch one now, but I'm going to use a normal mount, it's ridiculous how hard it is on the no gap mount to remove.

Thanks dude! My renters shattered my LED TV and I really wondered how it happened, the impact was on the upper corner, it hadn't fallen off the wall, now I know, they threw something at it. Thanks for the video!

Nice to see how strong OLEDs actually are!

They need to fix the heat damage issue. It’s effecting every panel; just a matter of time. Also, they keep calling it burn-in to avoid having to replace the panel. It’s complete bs!

Hi Dan, thanks for this video! I’ve a question that I’d like your views on - is it possible that an OLED screen might have a small crack due to pressure placed from the back like installing brackets, but still tension watchable for a couple of days? And would that crack get worse from being adjusted leading to a black screen?

Jean Claude tellydan is it to much of a risk getting an oled because of the burn in risk? It's between the cx and q95t what do you suggest pal?

It had to be done for science.
Thanks buddy.

OLEDs have spectacular picture but the burn-in issue is just a killer for me. Hard to justify spending $4K+ on a TV and worry about static image rendering it to garbage status.

Would you consider OLED TVs to be pretty tough? Most stuff online say that OLEDs are fragile, but I guess this video proves otherwise.

I recently punched my new 77" Oled with a Vr Controller and almost died. It was fine

I had a LG CX panel destroyed by my cat biting the corner. No marks left where she bit it, but the screen died.

Oled tvs are very fragile. Mine lasted about 2 months with a toddler accidentally throwing a toy and it hitting the screen
