How to Get Your Ducklings to Like You!! (Ducks 101)

In this video I will give you tips on getting your ducklings and ducks to like spending time with you. Ducks are a bit more naturally skittish than chickens, so they take a bit more of a personal touch.

I have 3 6-week old black swedish ducklings that I got from Metzer Farms through USPS. This video details some of the strategies I've used in order to get my ducks to sit on my lap voluntarily!

It is called conditioning. Pick-up and pat each one for a few seconds and then give the treat after everyone got loved on. It works as positive reinforcing and so far I have found they demand love to get the treats.

I’ve been looking around & I do like the look of the Black Swedes, but I may actually try the poor nearly wingless runner ducks — look like bowling pins! This breed of duck is not friendly they are shy I recommend yellow ducklings they are friendly and will follow you

Cuddling ducklings is the best thinig in the world and you're missing out if you don't do it. My ducklings - especially fawn and white runners - will fight to climb into my husband's hand when they are tiny just to sleep there. They're missing a mom and if you want your ducks to love you, and be easy to handle, spend as much time holding them as possible the first 8 weeks!

I just got ducklings a day ago and they’re like maybe 4-7 days old and ones name is Annie and one is Gwen and I love them both thanks for the info ) and I think it’s so sad to ship these little animals to other places and a lot of them don’t survive, it’s so sad
