Hey there! My name is Christal and I am here to share the lessons that I learned from a very challenging marriage and divorce. The purpose of this series is to HELP people and remind them they aren't alone in tough situations. While I am sharing from a Christian point of view, I believe wisdom can be gleaned from my lessons learned regardless of your faith status. I truly hope this helps. God bless. Love you.

Too many people think women were made to be slaves to men. The Bible tells us we were all created equal and tells us that God is our only master. I’m also glad you spoke of the proverbs 31 description. This woman feeds her “maidens” which means she has handmaids or servants. She purchases a field and plants a vineyard. This woman is not slaving away to a man locked in a house and asking his permission to exist.

I’ve been married to my husband 20 years in August. I was a fallen away Christian when we got married. I’ve recently returned to faith and have been praying for my husband and our sons to come to Christ, as well. My biggest failure in life has been my neglect in teaching them the Word. But I believe in the power of prayer and have faith they’ll get there. ✝️ Much love!

Ooh my goodness I studied proverbs 31 and I said who got this misconstrued!!? Because it sounds like to me this woman fed the poor, she sold goods, she bought land and vineyards like she had business to attend to outside and inside the home. Se did take care of her husband and kids but she also did what she wanted and needed to do. She did not just stay home fluffing pillows, cooking, cleaning and waiting on her husband. She actually did for herself, whatever she did also came as a blessing to her husband as well. I don’t know who said that a house wide is just it for women. Now I don’t think it’s wrong, if a woman want to do that then fine. But that most definitely is not the end all be all for married women, God 100% has more. Single or married just different spaces and levels.

Good points. When I read proverbs 31 I read about a very motivated woman who has a lot of authority as a wife and individual. There is mutual respect.
There aren’t many available Christian men out there so I totally get your first point. It is tempting to just see the label “Christian, ” and just focus on that. They have to actually talk the talk though!!

My wife & I are in recovering processs after 9yrs. It was almost too late b4 i realized my religious, legalistic way of leading was not it. I saw how i hurt my own wife & family. I repented. Moved out of state. Dont know if ill ever serve in a local church again but Yah is faithful.

Excellent, Christal. I am very sorry you had to go through all that abuse. Your understanding of the Word is very correct. Love is not selfish, it does not put others down. God bless and keep you.

It’s hurtful when you build and have children w husband and be just files divorce and refuses to work on the marriage and you have young children together
I never thought this would happen to me being married to a head pastor

Without God, I don’t know where I’d be

Thanks for sharing your experience

Thanks for your transparency Christal. I pray for those who care to really HEAR & understand what you are saying. Such great points! ❤

Continued blessings on your journey and endeavors! Oh, and also thank you for teaching me a new word, legalism! 😊

I am so glad you decided to speak up on this. It took me years to see some of what you are saying but luckily my late husband was not legalistic like this. So much of what you said I have explained to my own sister. It takes wisdom to know that like you said being with the wrong man can have you questioning your own faith especially since you thought you were choosing a man of God. I could go on but I’ll let you do it. I’m looking forward to this series. It’s going to help so many women.

Thanks for being transparent Christal. This is very helpful. I never really felt comfortable with the idea that women should walk completely behind a man and be overly submissive. I know I am supposed to lead but I still want to let her cook and do her own thing as well. Need that push n pull type balance. My mother is a boss and a visionary so naturally thats what I kinda look for in a woman 😅

Definitely need to get back to reading the bible tho.
