I turn all my clothing inside out before washing it. It doesn't just help to prevent fading, it also reduces any wear and damage to the outside of the garment.

Washing new black items before you wear them together with all (older) black clothes is something I've done for ages and it really works. Also I never put my clothes in the dryer exept from bed linen and towels. Clothes are lasting so much longer this way

As someone who constantly wears black and drives for a living I can 100% attest to the sunlight fading clothes extremely quickly the one side of all of my shirts is completely faded after 3 months
