You almost see the barges being pulled up Volga River.
That bass singing is bordering on throat singing. Gives you goosebumps.

My brother has a natural tendency to sing all vocal music at least an octave lower. The song of the Volga boatmen is one of his favourites. The neighbours sometimes love to listen to him ⛱. I also love it because it makes my body vibrate from head to toe.

Nothing like a good Russian men’s chorus to give you goosebumps. I still remember the words from when I had Russian class in high school in the early 1970s. Beautiful.

Wow! Purity of voices and harmony!! The bass - as a voice and as a Man (his height) - rises above the entire song. I listened and imagined Repin’s painting “Barge Haulers on the Volga” before my eyes. Incomparable performance! Bravo to the performing team!

I took Russian as my language requirement and Professor Gregory, the teacher, had been a professional singer before moving to the US. Every Friday was singing day and this was the first song we learned. That was in 1971 and i can still sing this song.

I learned that song back in the early 40s from my grandfather, Mikhail. I still sing it from time to time; I remember the words but not their meaning. The last time I heard the language and spoke it was when grandpa came out to visit us when I was 12. It was the last time I spoke Russian.

Der Russische Bär singt. Mit einer Stimme, die aus den tiefsten Gruben und Höhlen scheint zu kommen. Wonne pur!

Wow, he drops down so effortlessly at the end. He's still relatively young, I hope he gets even deeper as time passes.

I've always loved the Volga Boatmen music, but I've never heard it like this. Extraordinary. Goosebumps all over.

I used to hum this song as a kid all the time. For the longest time I couldn’t figure out where I picked up from. Every once in awhile I’d catch myself humming it but with no clue about it. I could never find it online. YouTube just recommended it. I still don’t know where I picked up from. Okay mystery sort of solved.

We sang it like this:
Yo ho heave ho
Yo ho heave ho
So pull together
Onward still we go!

I felt it was the most serious song in the world, and very sad.
