Deadpool & Wolverine: Cameos, Easter Eggs & Ending Explained

Spoilers inbound! Gareth and Andrew breakdown every cameo, and easter egg, and bring you their thoughts on the ending, and what it might mean for Deadpool, Wolverine, and the MCU going forward.

I think the entire plot is a meta joke. Deadpool's (Fox) universe is collapsing because it doesn't have an anchor being (because Hugh Jackman retired from playing Wolverine). They say someone higher up (Kevin Feige) thinks Deadpool can be salvaged from the universe. But Deadpool feels that bringing Wolverine back will save his universe. Which is kinda the real world goal of the movie.

I loved Gambit’s several remarks about being confused about his own existence. Commenting that he may have been born in the void and that he can’t be sure either way, stating that people never got a chance to know him and lamenting that he wanted to save lives. He says these things as Blade and Elektra commiserate about legacy, and wanting their stories to have an ending, and how they saved lives and the people of their universe have forgotten them by now. But since Tatum’s Gambit movie never made it out the earliest parts of development before being completely scrapped, he’s unique. Whereas the others starred in multiple films before studios chose to stop pursuing those franchises resulting in their “pruning”; Tatum’s Gambit was basically born in the trash bin, he was conceptualized and cast but never got to be a hero or live any type of story. That bit was clever.

You totally misinterpreted the Blade joke. After Snipes says he’s the only Blade, Wade gives the camera a cheeky look because the Blade movie is all but cancelled. It’s been delayed by multiple years, can’t keep a director attached, and the outlook is generally bad.

This multiverse saga is an excuse for them to give us fan casts and say goodbye to the movies that a lot of us grew up watching and thats something to be thankful for. Shout out to Thomas Jane Punisher, Eric Bana Hulk, and Howard the Duck

The "down the road" part of the Cavill joke is probably also a reference to Marvel and DC having their HQs across the street from each other up until 2015.

Deadpool and Wolverine is the win that Marvel has so desperately needed since Spider-Man: No Way Home. 11/10, would watch a million times and be happy.

Loved all the cameos (OG Blade was a nice touch) and that Channing finally got his chance to shine as Gambit, but the big bad kinda sucked ngl.

The 2nd Blade joke was about him taking the role to serious during filming telling everyone on set to refer to him as Blade 😂

There was one cameo that it's unlikely some folks outside of UK indie wrestling will have spotted - on the gates to Cassandra's lair The Blob was shown in a cage. He was played by Norwich based wrestler Mike Waters, known otherwise as Bulk, one half of the UK Pitbulls tag team.

Ye i liked the montage over the credits. Even though deadpool himself has taken the piss out of most of it its was like they were saying thanks for giving us all these movies over the years, and even though it wasnt all good they still gave us some great moments.
