As a UK tourist I just had one of these V6 convertibles for a week. Drove it 1600 miles around the Nevada desert.
So what's it like? Had a silver one with 18" upgraded wheels. It looked great with the hood down, plenty of retro hints mixed in with sharp styling. I was sat in it for a long a time and the seats are bang-on, very comfy. I'm tall which was no problem plenty of room. Handling and ride quality were acceptable, ride was soft but not all over the show - a good compromise.
Performance - 305bhp sound a lot to anyone from this side of the Atlantic, however it did not feel quick, especially with auto box. The thing is designed to cruise, not to be gunned down some track. The engine is very relaxed - 1500 rpm at 70mph. Yes you can rev it and you'll shift, but the engine just doesn't want to be thrashed. The thing sounds a bit stressed like it's shouting "eh -what are you dong"? I'll say it again this car is for long distance cruising.
Bad bits - some of the trim is tad cheap. The sound system is way, way too weak. Had at full volume most of the time, needs to be better. Door mirrors are too small, difficult to judge what's happening around you.
Fuel economy - expect 20-22 mpg on the freeway. It guzzles gas.
In summary looks good, comfy but could be a bit better.
Hire one you'll be pleased.

Good review as usual.  I like the whimsical approach, yet you provide the info needed by viewers researching different vehicles.  I just bought a yellow 2015 V6 convertible.  I love it.  I drove a GT, but found it too loud and too expensive for a weekend cruiser.  In my opinion, the V6 offers 90% of the Mustang GT experience for 70% of the price.  Also, because my V6 has the 18in wheels as on your tester, it rides better than the GT.  I don't get the V8 growl, but the $13, 000 savings more than makes up for the sonic thrill.  Keep up the good work.

I always use used shell v power in my vehicles, require or not. For someone that doesn't drive much I think the extra bit of money is worth it (long term).

Very late comment, but i'm looking into this car thoroughly as my first car - i'm mainly going for a good priced, nice looking car while still comfortable. Through your review, do you think this car would be a good first car? If nothing happens to it, I plan on having my first car for a while before moving to another one. :)

TheMediaMart i was wondering how tall are you and if you can clearly see out of the front while driving because I'm 16 and my dad is buying me the 2015 Ford Mustang v6 premium convertible and I'm 5'4 and I wanted to know if you think that I'm tall enough to get a clear view out of the front. I am worried about this because my dad has a Camaro and I drive it sometimes but the front is so big I can barely see out of it and as a new driver that takes a toll on me. And also do you know if the mustang's electrical seat are able to have the bottom part go up?
