Very common thing to do in my country Cuba. Many of the ideas you said in your videos we used to do it through the years, not by option but for necesity.

I had a look at how water is being billed in my city in germany and it's a flat monthly subscription for the water connection and then there is variable rate for your consumption. The variable rate is so low that you would need to have a full 200l bath multiple times a day to double your monthly payment, there is very low financial incentive not to waste water. The water scarcity issue is geography dependant and if you live in Germany or Denmark it makes little difference because the water management is working. You reap all the mental and social benefits from practising sustainable living, which feels great.

We live in a city that's been in a drought state for 7 years.the first water to come out the shower head whilst warming up is caught in a bucket. Then the human stands in a deep basin and showers like normal.the Grey water is then caught in the basin and is used to flush the toilet.and then clean water from the bucket is used to water the fruit trees

Well, usually it is easier to built system, which connects a drain hole and toilet tank, cause you will use even less water and don't waste ones, which doesn't fall into the bucket. (As the bucket stands right under the water tap, I assume that only water from washing small parts of the body gets in it. It could be solved by buying a bigger bucket (in which you can stand). This way "dirty" water from your entire body can be reused) . Still a nice idea for rented apartments, where you can't rebuild an entire bathroom❤

I've heard this called "Bucket and chuck it" and you can use the soapy water on your vegetable garden too! Especially if you're using natural soaps. It actually repels aphids :)

Your videos about this bucket inspired me to do this too! My recent sustainable bathroom swaps mean I no longer need to the plastic trash bin in my bathroom, so that’s my shower bucket now.

I am filling a bucket with 10 liter of warm water , wash myself with a wash cloth with soap and then use a plastic cup to rinse of all the soap . This saves a lot of water and expensive gas .

Also, get a container to collect the water from when you wash your hands or face, you have no idea how much water I have collected from that; and don’t take out your bucket from the shower once you are already showering, leave it near you and you will still be collecting water.

Genuinely curious, but how do you flush your toilet with the bucket of water?

I noticed that when I take a shower there's little water that gets into the basin I have. I know it's a kinda silly question, but... should I collect the water I showered with or just catch the clean one that doesn't end up on my body? Flushing with some debris in the water is what I'm trying to wrap my head around. I have used a water bucket in the past, though, instead of running water from the shower wand. And I have a big pot so that i can collect clean water while it warms up.

I dont understand. I only have the shower running when I'm actively rinsing my body. The water stays off otherwise.

There is NO EXCESS WATER in the shower. Just learn to stop the stream while you're soaping yourself and then start it again! This is just WTF for me.

Doesn't the bucket get in the way while you are showering? I wouldn't be able to stand in my shower with a bucket under the stream 😮
