Deep clean shower and faucet heads with me #springcleaning #cleaningmotivation #cleanwithme #clean

Add deep cleaning your shower heads to your spring cleaning list expeditiously! While you’re at it, check your faucets because mine was PINK under there. I can’t believe I’ve been brushing my teeth with that water. 🤢

Don’t worry if your shower head doesn’t come off, just use a ziplock bag and rubber band to secure the vinegar to your fixture.

I left my shower head in the mixture for only a few minutes before I saw the lime scale deposits come out. But to be safe I left it submerged for a couple hours before taking it out to deep clean with a small dental brush. You can use a tooth pick too!

I’m so glad I did this even though I’m slightly horrified. Because at least now I can shower with the knowledge that my water isn’t icky anymore.

Limescale buildup isn't dirt, just mineral deposits from water. Regular cleaning helps with water flow.

The buildup really depends on the mineral content of your tap water, where I live it’s really soft so I barely get any

It isn't filthy. Those are the same minerals you are drinking and using to clean your body. Minerals aren't bad.

Limescale ain't dirt, but removing it will help with the water flow, so it's best to clean it regularly. How frequently depends on water hardness

For those who hate the smell of vinegar - use citric acid. It's almost as potent as vinegar and it has no smell!

You've cleaned 0.001% of the surface that is in contact with your water. Mineral deposits are okay to shower in. It looks way better to clean it though.

Its not filth. It's just water particulates that have built up over time. You can find them in city water and well water, and they are harmless. The only toxic thing that may form is mold or mildew, so you have to watch out for that but otherwise, in general, the water we drink is safe...

As someone who has spent the majority of their career working in the water industry this isn’t filthy at all which I know most people have already commented. A lot of people have no clue what is in their water supply & why and also how much upkeep is required to bring water to peoples homes.

Carbonate precipitation is not filth, it's in the water.

Being grossed out by limescale is a bit funny, next people are gonna be gagging at the idea of baking powder in their cakes 😂

This went viral like five years ago. I believed in this and disassembled my shower head to clean it. Although it was kinda dusty on the outside… it was SPOTLESS on the inside. As a punishment for being a fool… I lost one of the bolts.

You don’t have to have a detachable shower head to do this either just a large ziplock bag and a rubber band

Oh thank you for the dental pick idea!!!

Yep, every month. But if you’re unfortunate enough to have inexpensive shower heads, with plastic parts, the vinegar will break down and eat through the paint.

The water also comes out a lot easier if it’s clean

I put a bag up on it with vinegar in the bag. Do it once a week (when my schedule doesnt get disrupted) before rinsing the tub after the tub deep clean.

Plastic bag with cleaner of choice and elastic bands (or tape.) fill. Soak for recommended time. Remove rinse.

Easy as piss. Don’t wear your connections for no reason and make life easier on you.

Read your labels.
