I’m sorry to say but this is a disappointment. Garrett claims it’s all new technology but it seems to just be a bunch of old technology’s combined in a new way for Garrett. This is what happens when marketing “designs” a product and tells the engineers to build it. Rather than true R+D by the engineers who then share the new products with the rest of the company.

For example the “new” shaft design is the same as what minelabs have been for a long time, the “multidimensional” marketing is similar to minelabs 2d screen, the screen and button layout is the same as the apex, the triple graph id is similar to whites v3i, waterproof depth is similar to many detectors that have been out for a long time, multi frequency is already being done by all the competitors and the list goes on. I was really hoping for something truly new and innovative as they suggested in their teaser videos.

Just from their own specs this detector seems to not be better in any way. It’s not cheaper than similar featured detectors, it’s not lighter or more ergonomic, it doesn’t have more features and nothing seems truly innovative. We have yet to see how it actually performs but I highly doubt it will beat any of its competitors. I hope I’m wrong and its performance surprises everyone but I won’t hold my breath.

Did they make this with a carbon fiber shaft, or left it its regular plastic shaft??

Wait a second. This video says the vortex is series of 3 detectors not just one detector? But in the announcement that’s exactly what it is. A single detector that is separated by software upgrades. Which is it?

The ability to adjust the iron bias would be a nice feature. That rubber USB cover looks even easier to break than the one on the Ace Apex. I'm still sold and waiting for them to be available.

So if a person wants to create their own custom mode, will it be saved once the machine is turned off? Is there just one custom mode which can be made?

Unfortunately the handle is not in the shape of the letter "S", I think this one is the most suitable for holding and transporting in a bag.

Are the coil connections the same, as the AT max, so you can use various coils you have?

That USB cover does not bring confidence that it will stay attached there, stay put in place as a cover, stay sealed and water tight when submerged.

Hi Garrett, Well done very nice! I have the Ace. Any chance of developing a low cost gem stone detector/scanner? Or just a diamond detector? My land in Brazil is full of diamonds, Just dont know where they are lol, you are welcome to use it to do tests.

Wait, at the reveal Garrett stressed they WEREN'T 3 different detectors but one that was upgradable and now the tune has changed already? I see someone else pointed this out too but if a company is trying to catch up to others who already have good products out this is not the way to attract non Garrett fans.

M I reading right?garrettt changed the coil connector so you can’t use you coils from a/t and ace models..f them I won’t buy another product from them
