Just trying to reach out to those ordering on Dell - we placed 2 separate orders for these and both times we were charged for the super-duper premium protection plan that we did NOT order. And don't waste your time on the 2-day delivery - because it won't get there in 2 days. And, when you click on 2-day delivery, it will change spec/features that you wanted because it's only the premade spec machines that can get out in 2 days! Wanted 2 TB and the 2-day shipping rolled my order back to 1 TB & defaulted to the uber expensive protection plan. We are excited to try them out, just want to make sure everyone is going back and checking their receipts for things not ordered!

so after owning this laptop for the past 5 months here's my personal experience.
the screen has lots of light bleeding and seems a common problem.
the build quality is good but my previous model alienware 15 R3 felt better.
I hade lots of software problems that apparently came from the alienware support assistant app conflicting with the Dell support assistant.
I had to do a fresh restart and let only one app take care of all the updates.
the alienware app that controls performances feels really buggy and I gave up playing with the configurations, I let the balanced one always running.
except that everything is good.

edit.
in the Nvidia control panel also I had to manually select the option to use my graphic card, because automatically was only using the integrated one and never my 4070 for who knows what reasons.

I got one for Christmas and I’m loving it but what sucks is when I turned it on today it started updating and it takes so long and there’s no percentage to tell me how far they are in the update process.
I also got the Backpack which I have never had a Backpack that big before.

I will wait for the r2 or r3 version and see how it have been improved. I like AW and my 17r3 is going strong still. So I don't question the quality or longevity of AW.

Not sure why nobody is covering the 300nit screen brightness. That's an instant fail when you have a screen that big rocking a 4090. Not to mention if you're buying it for that 4090 and redic graphics, and NOT for the 480Hz, 300nits (tested at 280) you're missing out.
