I especially noticed that in the old Roseanne show. there was a crocheted granny square afghan on the sofa.

I have noticed it a while ago and even told my husband about it. We now play a little game of "crochet/knit spot". Everytime you spot a form of crochet or knit, you say it. It is fun so far. Stranger things and Coronation Street had me rolling. 😂

This is true crochet is a form of art older shows I used to see a crochet blanket on couch and people crocheting but yes in newer rich shows you never see crochet. I love crocheting. I love seeing the crochet you do Mikey.

I love the portrayal of knitting on call the midwife. How they took pride in making something for others who maybe would otherwise have to do without, or in excitement for their own child or grandchild.
But yea in general it seems like it’s portrayed as “they have to have old things because they can’t afford new” or “low class” when I find it just the opposite, I love to find vintage things or make my own items that have history, character and are beautiful too.

I agree, Rosanne has a granny square afghan on the couch, young Sheldon's couch also has an afghan. . I like to think of it Crochet = homey comfort... homemade comfort. Rich folks just buy accessories and don't want to pay the cost for someone to make an item for them...the cost of the yarn is too expensive lol. Snobbery sums it up

Yes I've seen a lot of crochet blankets in movies and I tell my husband to pause the t.v., and I look at the blanket and name what kind of pattern or stitch the blanket is. I love spotting the crochet blankets especially in scary movies. 😍

Yes, I have noticed! The Young & Restless! When Nickki Neuman was living on the street, she was wearing a crochet hat, and it was dirty! I didn't like that!, And Sharon Neuman had a crochet blanket in her home!, she gave it to her daughter and that was the end of it! never saw it again. I've been crocheting for a least 50 years and I've encountered comments like, "Crochet is cheap & cheesy!" and the list goes on! But, it was always from someone who had no idea what it takes to create crochet pieces! I'm very proud of my crochet skills.
