I heard the pits/seeds are only dangerous ALONE, but if u eat them along WITH the fruit itself, then it's fine. the story goes : THE SUGAR IN THE FLESH OF THE FRUIT NEUTRALIZES THE CYANIDE. So if u eat the whole fruit together as a whole, then it's safe. ( i mean... I'm sure animals, that eat these fruits, don't spit the seeds out, lol)

From my early childhood. we used to keep the pits of apricots and after they got dried, we broke and ate the seed...
It is actually really delicious (and looks like soft almond).
I dunno about cherry seed, but me (and all my friends and family) living now to leave this comment, is a "living" proof that it apricot seed is not dangerous ;)
By the way, I remember doing the same with peach seed.... Yuk! It was a bad idea, because it was bitter...

I've swallowed cherry seeds before. Sometimes I accidentally chew the cherry and swallow the seed without spitting it out. I once even crushed a cherry seed in my mouth by accident before swallowing it. Luckily I was okay and passed the seed out of my body.

The cherry seed was bitter and stale. It was awful. Thank goodness I wasn't poisoned. I was lucky.
