This will calibrate your speakers and headphones so you get a balanced and neutral reference point when producing or mixing music and audio. So many of you told me to get on this, and I finally did. Now I can't go back.

Discovered it 3 years and half ago. Changed my life in a studio environment.

The sub-bass is actually the first thing that I noticed. It sounded so much better. I have great speakers (Adam A7X) but terrible acoustics because I live in an apartment (for now). I looking forward to getting this Reference ID tool to see if it can help me hear my music better.

Game changer, have loved this bit of gear and has made a huge difference to mixdowns

I know the feeling... I can't go back either. It's also been great for me when on the road because of the EQing. Found this about 3 years ago, and I don't know what I'd do without it.

Even on a cell phone the sound is so much more crisp

You cannot use more than one ASIO device at a time on a comp, so that makes perfect sense why you had to switch to WASAPI! I used to work at a sound measurement company and ran into this often with other USB sound devices

Try it on your DT990’s it makes the high end so much more balanced.

Yo g hope you’re good. Just to give you my experience recently. So I’ve used Sonar Works for around a year and I absolutely loved it to start with. My room felt nicely balanced and when playing stuff out in the car and other cheap budget speakers my mixdowns sounded wayyyy better than what I was managing before buying it. However skip a year…. recently I’ve been getting tuition from Chris from The Prototypes (I know mental right!!) but when I was taking my tunes to his studio to go over a them things started to get really tricky. I wasn’t able to hear some frequencies and I was seriously lacking bottom end in my tunes. I had a lot of phasing issues I was creating because I couldn’t hear things properly. Chris told me to turn it off and to come back to the studio once I had rebalance stuff. As soon as I done that I could hear properly and it all started to jump out. I’ve not looked back since. Obviously this is just my experience using it plus my room is treated with panels but I also have a few friends who don’t use theirs anymore either. It will be interesting to see how you get on moving forward. Anyway man we got to catch up it’s been a while. I’ll drop you a message on WhatsApp 👊🏻

Sonarworks is great. The Sonarworks calibrated mic is well worth getting (it made a big difference to the high end compared to using the mic in my spl meter). My PSB tower speakers with subwoofer have plenty of low end and Sonarworks really evens it out and like you found it makes the sub bass audible.

However, a caution for people with small monitors - they often don't have powerful enough amplifiers to overcome the horrible low-end response of the little ported cabinet let alone the room. If the woofer is 5" or smaller, the money would be better put towards decent monitors. Sonarworks is great but it can't overcome the laws of physics!

I got this a few years ago on a black friday deal (might be worth holding on until November if anyone is interested).

Improved the sound in my listening position so much and I could really then understand how/why my mixes sounded so different outside my room, even with using reference tracks alongside when mixing.

100% worth the money for me.

Acoustic preparation of the room is necessary so that this thing fully manifests itself as the cherry on the cake

Wait, we aren't just supposed to use Brockie & Ed Solo's "System Check" for our calibration? 😆

Yes you can run this as a plugin on the master… but ableton preview samples doesn’t run thru this, so it gets pretty annoying quickly dragging in sounds and they appear different.

I can hear a difference over my work headphones. Would like to see a more in-depth opinion in the future

So would you recommend getting the hardware version? I purchased the Software Headphone version but it feels like it changes the stereo/mono signals on the sound. Considering getting the hardware if it's worth it.

He says ASIO completely different than me, but he says WASAPI just like I do.
