Alex North provided some great scores for Hollywood, often surprisingly in an very avantgarde style.
Here is one of his greatest scores, written with an enormous sense for sacred characterisations and for a marvellous picture. Enjoy!

Every time I play or hear this score I think of Spartacus and Cleopatra. North's signatures and orchestrations are all through it. There will never be any score this great ever coming out of Hollywood ever again because there is no one there to write it. This is truly one of North's Masterpieces and he has several in my estimation. Thanks Fred for the great upload as usual. Out. .

Alex North one of the most complex composers ever. Some of his work can be so cacophonic while others are outstanding masterpieces (Virginia Wolff, Unchained, Spartacus etc.) rich in melody and orchestration. What a genius!

When you hear the Brass Fanfare,
you are hearing a excerpt from the rejected soundtrack for Stanley Kubrick’s 2001.
Alex North was only informed at the 2001 Premiere … he was upset (Stanley used his stand-in and editing music).
Mr. North brilliantly used appropriate excerpts from that work with new themes for this film.
For musical score, he won the 1969 Golden Globe, but lost the 1969 Academy to John Barry “Lion in Winter”.

I just watched this movie for the first or second time a couple of weeks ago as a "free view" movie from Comcast On demand - Movies. It was a presentation by TMC. Interesting movie. Anthony Quinn was able to play many types of characters. The movie had detail inside clips of such events as more or less depicted.
