I grew up using tractors when I was a kid, but I just finished a long career in the Army. Now retired, I bought my first tractor about 8 months ago. Learning as I go. I just got my first rotary cutter last week, and this video really gave me some pointers. I was mowing my road side access, and there is a small drainage ditch there, and it got fairly steep. I was able to "common sense" my way through it, but not knowing what I don't know, is dangerous. It's input / content like this that really helps us new tractor owners out. Thanks for great content! Excellent tips young man! Especially the roll bars and seat belt.... hand in hand. One without the other is trouble.

We had a middle age man have his tractor flip over on him... Thankfully by God grace, the man had his cell phone on him and he could call for help!! I have know to many men killed by the tractor flipping on them. To many! ....

Beautiful country around you... so lush and green! keep that mowed down so when deer season comes you can see those big bucks better 👍

Great tips! My oldest brother years ago, or back in the day as they say, had a tractor roll over on him and broke his back, so I really want to thank you for showing others saftey tips for tractors. No telling how many accidents will be avoided just by what you showed. Thank you for thinking of others!! God bless you!, Teresa

Excellent video!
I mow steep hills all the time. Rarely is there flat ground in my neighborhood. I was thinking, the best tip is: "If you dont feel safe, dont do it." And then you said it.
Excellent video!

I totally agree with everything you said CJ. My younger brother has a 4005 John Deere about the same size as your tractor. While i don't do much mowing on slopes, I've heard him talk about mowing with his front loader on and lowered . This is a good counter balast and as you said can keep you from tipping over while going up hill. Thanks buddy.

The top link connection on your 3 point for the bush hog, you could replace the straight bar down to the deck with a piece of chain, or cut it in to two sections closer to the top and put in a pivot point. Our 6 foot bush hog has a small expansion type joint there for movement to keep it from binding mow alot! Both with the 6 foot bush hog and the 12 foot batwing and steep hills can be pretty scary for sure. Great video!

I just bought a new tractor and have a 27 degree slope to tackle. This video gives me hope 😂 🍻

I have a trick I have used a few times: First, I always mow with my brakes not connected and my tractor in FWD. If I'm a little concerned about mowing across a slope I lightly touch the uphill brake to see if that wheel has some weight on it. If it locks up really easy, I immediately turn downhill.

I have the same tractor as you in this video and I have been bush hogging 250 acres but there’s one extremely steep hill that I have to do and I’m not going to lie it’s the only time I put the roll bar up because I really didn’t feel safe without it. I didn’t use the seat belt because if I had to jump off before the roll I could but seeing the video that you put into the comments showed me to WEAR it. Thank you!, , , ,

Well friend you taught me some new things here! I guess if I ever buy a tractor I’ll be buying one like the one you’ve got!

CJ just watched that other video man. Scary stuff if you don’t have a seat belt on. I always put mine on when I’m anywhere near a slope. Should probably wear it all the time but I make sure to have it on when I’m on a hill. Great video man.

Be careful out there, and one thing we have done is on our Ford 1921 tractor we turned the tires around and it pushed them out another few inches to give it more of a wider footprint very very stable and loaded the tires, the tractor can almost do 45 degree incline sideways no problem
