I still need to read New Jim Crow. I LOVE Sarah Waters! I've not read Night Watch but it's definitely on my list!

I love Edith Wharton. I've read 4 or 5 of her books and plan to read many more.

Edith Wharton is a goddess, just brilliant. If you never read "A Custom of the Country" you should.

I'm still plodding? ploughing? swimming? through Braiding Sweetgrass, and it is SO. GORGEOUS. Trying to draw it out.

The Lacuna is great!
Love that you had books on your cart you had forgotten about! 🤣

What a great group of books. Added some. TY. Everett is my author crush as well! Read trees and admired it so much. Bought Telephone and So much blue. Looking forward to those.

Holidays after a big loss are difficult.
Grace, grace. That is my hope & prayer for your family. Give each other grace; give yourselves grace.
Train dreams was a difficult one for me. It takes place right here in my Idaho Panhandle. Right where I grew up around WA/ID. I love his writing style and even appreciated most of the story but it derailed. (<— see what I did there?)

You have reminded me I need to read more Wharton. I have loved those I have read but not returned to her for a long time.

Great to see you reading what you own! (Even if you’re not formally taking part).
Your non fic picks sounds really interesting. Hope your mum is doing okay.

I'm really looking forward to reading House Made of Dawn for my Pulitzer Project. I'm so glad you enjoyed The Age of Innocence. It is a tremendous book. I hope you enjoy Writers and Lovers if you fit it in!

You pulling off books from the book cart was like opening presents on Christmas Day! Wow! Cool! I’ve got this one! My push would be for A Visit From the Goon Squad followed up by a 2023 reading of Candy House. And definitely have Ethan Frome ready for your coldest wintery day and a long afternoon that you can read it all in one sitting.

I loved The Age of Innocence. Wharton’s writing is 👌. The House of Mirth is next. I loved The Trees too and can’t wait to dive into more Percival Everett. I now have several on my shelves to no excuses.

Hi Brian, I’m 70 pages into “House Made of Dawn” and I feel quite relieved to hear that it’s not just me finding that sometimes timelines are rather confusing and also getting lost about who’s who in the story. I am enjoying very much the descriptions of the villages, the canyon and the natural world. It’s one of those books which I think need to be read slowly to get the feeling of places and people. I have no direct experience of the landscape of New Mexico, so I looked up photos of the Rio Grande Valley, Jemez Pueblo and also Jemez Springs on the internet, and these pictures made me appreciate N Scott Momaday’s poetical language even more. It’s the second book I read by a Native American author (the first was The Sentence, earlier this year) and I’m already looking forward to reading also Braiding Sweetgrass (it’s in my bookcart 😉). I’m very grateful to you and a couple of other booktubers who inspired me to discover this for me new, ancient world.🌷

Great wrap up. Braiding Sweetgrass is high on my TBR. Still haven’t read Wharton but I want to. Your description of her writing makes me want to read it more. Love the idea of reading the books on your book cart. I need to read Writers and Lovers. Wasn’t a fan of the Goon Squad. I want to read Lacuna too. 😊💙
