Did You Know In SUSPIRIA…

There is the infamous scene where Olga’s body twists and contorts in the dance hall mirrors. The contortion is done in such a way that it seems to be excruciating, but this was done with almost zero CGI. Elena Fokina was a trained contortionist and ballet dancer, and she also has hypermobility. She ended up performing all of these stunts herself. Mia Goth, on the other hand, spoke about the heavy prosthetics used to create her undead Sara character. According to Leboutte, Mia actually became physically ill after handling her own fake intestines for the disemboweling scene.

The human body can be strange when pushed to its limits

They actually green screened one of her real arms and one of her legs out. And then used a fake arm and leg prosthetic as the twisted one

I also have hypermobility! My doctor made it sound a lot worrying than it actually is lol. told me that my joints are more likely to pop out of place with less strain than average, but I’ve never dislocated anything or even broken a bone before!

Edit: For those assuming, my doctor just said I should do physical therapy so that my joints are less flexible. I haven’t really done it though, since it’s never really posed an issue for me.

Thank you for all the likes!

That's fucking incredible! The jaw dislocation in particular looks SO PAINFUL.

I literally had to take a break after watching the contortion scene, it was just so gross. Especially when Olga wet herself, just so so disturbing

Edit: Spoilers Below
In the scene, as Olga is being brokena and distorted, there is a pause, it zooms into Olga's crotch and we see her pee herself in terror. It's genuinely so disturbing, because knowing the pain and terror that would result in someone wetting themselves, is just horrifying. Worst part, is she doesn't even die from it.

I was like "oh I might watch" but changed my mind when you mentioned disemboweling, funny how that works

As someone with hypermobility type ehlers danlos syndrome, it is very, very important that we don't do stuff like this on purpose. It's all fun and games until you dislocate a joint, trap a nerve and end up with more nerve damage
Also, Heds causes severe chronic pain and all you're doing is speeding that process along and landing yourself in hospital amd a wheelchair a lot sooner than normal. I used to use my Heds as a "party trick" when I was a teen, now I'm on oramorph multiple times a day an at 31 I'm an ambulatory wheelchair user. Please, kids with ehlers danlos syndrome, don't do this shit without talking to a Dr and do not do it for ahits and giggles. You will regret it

The actress in "THE EXORCISM OF EMILY ROSE" was (mainly) hired due to the fact she could contort her body into the strange and horrific possessions during (Emily Rose's) possession.
Just adding this little bit of trivia because I like that movie as well and it seemed to (kinda) fit.

There's CGI and prosthetics used for the Olga scene. One of the arms and one of the legs are prosthetic to be bent around behind her like that, while her real limbs were colored green and chroma-keyed out.

btw in case y’all didn’t care, hypermobility is also being double jointed

Suspiria is the most confusing, yet interesting horror movie for me🛐

I have hypermobile ehlers danlos, which is a form of Hypermobility that is not benign. eds causes a lot of pain & joint problems especially easy injuries and joint instability, and its a type of condition called a connective tissue disorder because if you have eds, the connective tissue in your body isn't like others

False, the contortionist had fake arm(s) and leg(s) attached to her to her own body to add to her broken body effects

Great movie! But wow, that Olga seen will never get out of your head once you’ve seen it. It is so incredibly disturbing. They do a great job of making you care about Olga before it happens too. It’s quite brilliant.
