Very interesting facts! Love how Jessica Harper turned down Annie Hall for horror, much respect.

3:15 this is not _entirely_ true. This could be akin to James Cameron talking about "dreaming of a metal skeleton coming out of the flames" (when he was just recalling Dan O'Bannon's 1981 first draft of *Screamers)* or George Lucas saying the Millenium Falcon came from a partially eaten hamburger with an olive beside it (when it came about during the design process. Check out kitbashed dit cim, if you know what I mean).

A lot of *Suspiria* comes from a film called *The House That Screamed (1969), * which involves shenanigans going on in a boarding school for troubled young women. Dario even uses the same lightning sound FX heard during the 3rd act in *THTS* and the 1st act (when Pat is at the Academy door leaving) in *Suspiria.*

5:15 Ridley Scott employed a similar tactic when filming *Alien.* He would play Tomita's *The Planets* through most of the shoot. In fact, Tomita was Scott's first choice to do the soundtrack, but 20th Century Fox thought it would be _too_ weird.

There are male characters throughout the film, but they are rather passive or subservient. I have to wonder if Mark (the young man who had a crush on Suzy) wasn't a "familiar". I know it was Dario himself who played the cloaked man walking down the hallway before opening the razor case (as he always did the "hand/glove" work), but character wise I wonder if that was Mark.

PS: for the sharp eyed, when Sarah goes into the attic, depending on your brightness settings, you can see the figure in the last glass closet and the same eyes that were outside the window during the Apartment death scene of Pat. Also: there is a weird stain beside Sonya (Pat's friend).. apparently Argento modeled it from a Satanic symbol, which, funnily enough, may be the source of the symbol of Paimon in *Hereditary (2018).*

Great facts! I hadn't personally considered Suspiria to be a lesbian story, but I can see it. It's definitely a female power-driven story in every respect. I love the idea that Olga is a witch in training and possibly helping Markos carry out dark deeds, it adds another layer to everything. Do you think you'll do reviews of the other movies in the 3 Mothers trilogy? I think that would be awesome.
