Deep Sky Astrophotography - The Elephant's Trunk Nebula

The Elephant's Trunk Nebula is a collection of cosmic gas and dust within IC 1396. This incredible deep-sky astrophotography target is located in the constellation Cepheus more than 2,000 light-years away from Earth.

In this video, I'll photograph the Elephant's Trunk Nebula using the Sky-Watcher Esprint 100ED Super APO and a ZWO ASI294 MC Pro Camera.

I saw it once with my ten inch reflector under extremely humid b3 dark sky along with the heart nebula, some of the faint IC nebula are visible in 6 inch plus instruments

I increase binning to maybe 3 or 4 times at lower exposure to pull out stars near dim objects I wish to view.

Great to have the longer nights back, even here in the far, FAR north! It's impossible to image anything except the moon and Sun in the summer because it never gets dark. Finally I'll be able to go under the dark skies, and image the stars!

video. Glad too see you got your hands on an esprit 100. I have it on my losmandy G11. With qhy168c camera. Took awhile with lots of help from friends to figure how to attach ff since i upgraded focuser to a moonlite. But we got it. Using a filter drawer infront of camera for my LPR filter and Ha. Good to see Rudy lol. Your doing a great thing for the amatuer astronomy community.
