George IV's Bed in The King's Bedchamber At Windsor Castle

A bed fit for a king! Discover the story behind the focal point of The King's Bedchamber at Windsor Castle, George IV's bed.

Made by the master French furniture maker, George Jacob, it was acquired for George IV's bedroom at Carlton House around 1790.

Over the years it has undergone numerous changes, including by Queen Victoria ahead of the French State visit of Emperor Napoleon III and Empress Eugenie in 1855.

As another comment has already pointed out, the Prince of Wales was not Regent in 1790. His regency was from 1811.

Is QE2’s bed chamber blocked off, to be showed 50 years later or are there plans to show it sooner? How many rooms in the palace can serve as Regnant bedrooms for future generations? Do they recycle bedrooms?

It is impressive; however, it appears to be better suited for a Queen owing to the feminine aspects of the drapery. I guess in this time period it may have been appropriate. To each his or her own.
