To be fair, the vegan customer who wanted bacon wasn't being ignorant. She knew it isn't vegan.

Imagine that guy responded saying "my doctor told me I was allergic to eggs and so I've been telling everyone that I'm allergic to dairy. I'm so embarrassed"

I remember when i worked as a chef in a restaurant and this lady at first said she couldn't have mayo on her sandwich. Cool. We can do that. We send it out and she returns it. Saying she wants avocado now on ber sandwich. Little infuriating but fine. Put avocado on it and send it. She sends it back, saying she cant eat it because shes lactose intolerant. We charge her for both of the sandwiches that we had to make with her mods and dietary restrictions and the first one. Needless to say, we didnt see her again.

I used to know this girl from high school who went around screaming that she was vegan, shared very explicit vegan posts on FB (like pictures of cows being slaughtered) only for the whole classroom to watch her eat meatballs during the dinner our homeroom teacher treated us after school one day
Her defence was "I mean I do eat meatballs why would you say that"

What? I thought he was gonna say “hold the parmesan.” To my knowledge, a Caesar salad doesn’t have bacon, but it does have parmesan. 🤔

I must tell you, watching your videos brings back so many customers I waited on for forty years!!! And, some are unbelievable. I loved waitressing but the child that is running around while I have a very hot coffee pot in my hand!!! And the parents ignoring him. Of course any accident would have been my fault. FYI: I DID HAVE WONDERFUL CUSTOMERS!!!! Thanks for making me laugh.

To be fair... I think bacon should be the one exception to being vegan... you need something to brighten your culinariky depressing choices. I can only respect the woman who said "I'm vegan but give me bacon".

Fun fact: brand name bacon bits are actually vegan. No real bacon in them at all.

I am seriously flabbergasted that people believe that eggs are dairy products. When did this become a thing? Dairy = milk that comes from cows or other 4-legged farm animals like goats. Eggs are laid by Chickens, two completely different animals.

Worked in an Italian/American restaurant in Pgh, PA. Yes, I was the Chef, the owner and I worked very closely to obtain the best ingredients possible. Pgh has an incredible Italian presence, old school ( plus an amazing range of other authentic ethnic roots) thought, and tradition. Anyway, a customer ordered an Italian hoagie. Best ingredients, bread ect. Meticulously made. It was sent back, customer stating...it doesn't taste Italian enough. Lost my shit, composed myself and confronted the disgruntled customer. Customer stated, this tastes nothing like Subway. Case closed.

Uhhhh, anchovies are not the only thing that makes Caesar salad not vegan. I can't have dairy, and one of the things that I miss a lot and can hardly ever have is Caesar salad, because it normally contains dairy. It contains parmesan cheese, and there's almost always also dairy in the croutons. (You can just leave the cheese out as far as I'm concerned and that's fine, but it's just not a Caesar salad at all without croutons!)

Oh, yeah, and traditional Caesar salad dressing is also supposed to have raw egg yolk in it, although I think some more recent recipes have eliminated that due to concerns about eating raw eggs (or more likely, about feeding raw eggs to customers).

There's a vegetarian restaurant in my city that has a Caesar salad that can be done vegan, and I LOVE them for it. (Although I'm not nearly as happy since they switched to a kale version. Sigh.)
