UK PM Rishi Sunak defends PM Modi over controversial BBC series; MEA slams BBC documentary

Defending PM Modi in the British Parliament, UK PM Rishi Sunak distanced himself from the BBC documentary series, saying he "doesn't agree with the characterization" PM Modi. Sunak made these remarks on the controversial documentary that was raised in the British Parliament by Pakistan-origin MP Imran Hussain.
BBC released a docu-series called India: The Modi Question, the first episode of which was aired on Jan 17th and was removed from YouTube on Jan 18th.
The second part of the series is scheduled to be broadcast on January 24.
The series looks into Modi's time as the Gujarat chief minister during the Gujarat riots of 2002. #bbcdocumentary #bbc #pmmodi #Gujaratriots

“The UK government’s position on this has been clear and long-standing and hasn’t changed, of course, we don’t tolerate persecution where it appears anywhere.”

And below is the position of Rishi Sunak.
“But I am not sure I agree at all with the characterization that the honorable gentleman (although it was not characterized by that gentleman, rather it was a BBC investigation report) has put forward to.”
