As you said, CP will help us to solve complex problems in efficient way... That's the only reason we should do CP. I mean it will help us to think better and it is also a necessary skill to have for software engineering jobs. In my opinion, we should do both at initial stage and then shift to development stuff !

Most of the people do CP for coding interviews and not for competitions. Thats what I assume. I think apart from projects, CP is the most imp thing to get into FAANG.
