When I hear this song I think of my late mother cooking and singing along with that old radio we had in the kitchen. What wonderful memories

in 2021, why did I wake up with this song playing in my head?
Glad I found it, better late than never.

It’s sad how no one realizes how great this type of music this is. But, as we know, history repeats itself. Sad thing is we might not live long enough to see it.

R.I.P. Fontella Bass. Fascinating that Maurice White (Earth, Wind & Fire) was on drums of this song and the late, great Minnie Riperton
provided backing vocals.

Best bass line intro ever and syncopated rhythms.  Beautiful woman, singing, and message.

Came in from the central highlands of Viet Nam to check out of country from a processing center near Saigon in '66. Heard this song there and have loved it since then. The words were so relevant for me at the time.

I love your granny's voice. My parents played all kinds of music at home from 3pm to around 9pm but just before bedtime my mom and dad would play this song and would dance in the living room at least 4 times a week.
