Soul Knight is a mobile roguelite with different characters, LOTS of weapons, 12 bosses, and an army of minions which wants nothing more or less than your death. You should really check it out! It got upraded to 2.0 this week, so new content arrived as well.

Good video!
Streets of Rogue is one of my favourite games by far. I've also got more than twice as much time sunk into it as I do my next most played on Steam at like 240 hours.
I also picked up Cave Blazers. I gave up on it because I just couldn't get past most third-level bosses. Very frustrating, but fun.

Here’s one of my personal favorite games that nobody seems to know about: Hyperspace Dogfights. It’s made by Stefan, who also made the popular Captain’s Edition mod for FTL. The core gameplay of Hyperspace Dogfights (or HD for short) is similar to Luftrausers, in that you fly a jet that can only shoot in the direction it’s facing. Unlike Luftrausers, rather than being an arcade-style survival mission, it’s a roguelike (also worth noting is that you can move backwards and sideways, which makes it far less clunky to fire at stationary targets), and also it drops the monochrome graphics for a brightly colored Pico-8 color scheme and pixelart. But enough comparing it to Luftrausers; it’s a unique game, not just “Luftrausers but it’s a roguelike”. The main objective of HD is to make it through 4 zones, defeating a boss at the end of each one. After that, you can either end your run or continue into endless mode. To progress through each zone, you must fight through roughly 10(not sure exactly how many, I haven’t counted) waves, each of which challenges you with an objective. In order to move on to the next wave, you must either complete or fail the objective (or survive for roughly 5 minutes and wait for the softlock protection to let you move on). The objectives vary from simply killing enemies or surviving for a minute or two to taking out anti-air emplacements, performing recon by flying into small areas and staying there for a second, and even hacking store ships without letting them take too much damage. After you’ve completed the objective for a wave, you’re faced with a decision: stay in the wave, risking your coolness bonus (coolness increases for flawlessing waves, resets when you take heart damage, and is effectively a luck bonus) and increasing the escalation (difficulty) to try and get more SRM(money), or leave to keep the difficulty as low as you can and keep your flawless streak going, at the cost of not killing more enemies for money? Regardless of which you choose, when you’re ready to move on you simply boost to the right 3 times in quick succession, and enter a intermission. During intermissions, you can buy items and weapons. The items are a bit of a mix between Gungeon and Risk of Rain in terms of what they do; active items charge based on a variety of factors, passives are generally something more interesting than a simple stat upgrade (though there are a few boring stat increases, you’re almost always happy to see them due to them buffing important stats by a fairly decent margin), and the ammo items are the coolest ones. However, you get the items by paying for chests and shops (if you’ve hacked one in the current zone), with chests in 4 different rarities, and indicating whether they drop an item or a weapon, as well as some chests giving 3 options for what to pick up instead of 1 (all of which is communicated via what they look like), all of which with differing prices depending on these factors, thus making chests more of an educated guess as to what you might get rather than a complete gamble. Overall though, it’s just really fun. There’s also 6 different jets to fly, with different starting loadouts, and each jet has 3 versions; the MK1, for a balanced challenge, the MK2, for a different and slightly better loadout (but mostly just different), and the Stray, a sort of challenge ship, with odd loadouts and tradeoffs right from the start. This makes for 18 different jets to fly, all but 1 of which require unlocking through various methods. 2 of the jets (so 6 if you count the variants) are secret jets with hidden unlock requirements. It’s $15 on steam, and is well worth the price.

Love this list. You definitely need to play rogue's tale, its been updated so much at this point and is so worth it. It still remains one of the most pure and hardcore rogue-lite experiences. More true to the sources of the genre, and thus more punishing and a learning experience than most of all these games. Amazing once you get good enough in it though. Even if it might require some decent investment which is not something you usually do. Definitely one of the top ones right now. But niche, since its a very challenging one. You are not supposed to win, you mostly die. Small goals each time.

Caves is a android-exclusive mobile roguelike that has many cool weapons and gear along with many different characters(or suits as they are called in the game)that are all unique and many different and cool enemies to face off against. The games mix of fantasy and Si-fi styles feels really cohesive and the game has great attention to detail. The game is also in active development with many updates and more to come. You should check it out if you have the chance to do so, it's a really great mobile game that needs more attention.

Caveblazers is an absolute hidden gem. I bought it for like 2 dollars on the eshop _years_ ago and I think it's the only game I've never uninstalled, I have at least a couple hundred hours and only just recently unlocked everything.

If it looks like something you might be into, you should get it. It's _amazing._ And the multiplayer is nice too (+ it's on sale the time)!

happy gaming, nerds :)

For strategic and fairly unknown roguelike, I'll add Dungeon of the Endless (with tower defense mechanics), Pathway (a mix between FTL and XCOM, but in Indiana Jones universe raiding tombs and killing nazis) and Convoy (FTL Like but with pretty unique combat mechanics).

If you want some Roguelikes where you use your brain more than your reflex, check out those 3 for sure ;)

There is this 1 rouglite on mobile I enjoy. Nigth of the full moon, is basically slay the spire but with little red riding hood. It has multiple characters, but since its a free mobile game, you have to pay real money. After you die, the game doesn't delete your run, but let's you respawn with the same amount of health you had before you died (even on hard mode). It's a nice little game with 3 main bosses (and a 4th secret one), and many more, with 3 areas (each having a boss, and minibosses). Would recomend it, expecially on the go.

My favorite rogue lite:

The Slimeking's Tower: An Isaac like game in a tower with 13 characters, a dozen floors and lots of secrets to unlock! You can play in 5 game modes and 20 challenges.
There is a pet system where you upgrade pets with coins to unlock their abilities. There are more items than in Isaac AB+. About 6$ on Steam and 0$ on Google play!

by the way, dungreed changes it's floor system. now there's only 1 floor for every terrain rather than 2, not including boss. they also improved the decorations for boss rooms
