THIS IS ABSOLUTE GOLD!!!! I've watched over 100 YouTube tutorials and nothing comes close to explaining the wrist set so perfectly! Exactly like you said, I was moving both wrists the same in an up/down hammer motion (what a rookie). This light bulb moment has transformed my swing and now I finally feel like I'm doing it right. Thank you so much I hope you get all the millions of likes and subscribers you deserve! 👍👍👍

Giles, this is one of your best videos! I could watch and re-watch this video all day long on wrist set! This is something that I have been concentrating on for the past few years. Prior to that time, I did not pay much attention to it. Now, I push down the butt end of the club with my left hand and pull up and back with the right hand to attain the flat left wrist and bent back right wrist set. This is one of the most important sequences in the golf swing to hit solid shots. I've even bought a ping pong paddle to duplicate your drill! :-) Well Done Giles!!!

Another great explanation Giles. Thank you. I had a round yesterday with a golfer who when I checked who was in my group I just thought here we go again. We are a similar age, similar handicap of 4 ish. The difference is how we achieve our wrist set. Ours are different, mine is like yours (which he says is wrong) as he is an early setter and goes out of his way to let everyone know. To take the argument out of it I simply say what works for you isn’t what will work for everyone as we are all different. He lives in a world of one size shoe fits everyone. Wish I had this video yesterday however I have saved it to show him the next time we are in the same group. Thanks Giles. 👍😎

This significantly improved my strike. However, I was on a mat. I would appreciate a video that compares various ball and club data when hitting on mats vs grass so we have an idea what to expect when courses open. Thanks.

I am 71. When I was on my HS golf team we went to a driving range where we watched the pro hit drives over the net with a half backswing. How, we asked. With my wrists, he said. Until this video I had never seen a coherent explanation to answer the How? Thank you!

Great video Giles, I am 85 years old and still golfing, would it be ok to use the stop, check and go during a golf swing when playing golf?

One thing I notice when you do “Stop, Check & Go” drill is your hands move very little (maybe about a foot), but the clubhead moves very far back (maybe half the backswing) 😳

Is this something we should focus on?
… short movement with the hands when SETTING & CHECKING the club halfway back
… that is, minimize how much the hands and grip move at the start of the backswing?,
… saving most of the hands/grip movement for the second half of the backswing (the full shoulder turn)?

More great stuff 👍🏻
Always looking forward to your next video

Really like the emphasis on where the wrist set is needed into delivery. Seems obvious now but no one says that. Great point

When the wrist set seems like it could have a correlation to top of swing position. Setting the wrists early often results in good width at the top of the swing where hands and arms have space between then and the chest, head, and rear shoulder (ex: Ernie Els, Nick Faldo). Where as: later wrist set is more at the mercy of the weight and momentum of the club where the left arm could abduct and pull closer to the chest and the hands look closer to the head at the top of the swing from a face on view (ex: Greg Norman and Fred Couples).

Excellent explanation, as usual, but I would like to know if I can use the very same technique for the driver and woods.

Giles, excellent and easy to follow lesson, does it work the same with the driver. Thanks, your lessons are very helpful.

This explanation is incredible. Much appreciated. Can't wait to practice this.

Giles, my club head is pointing to my face direction at the top of the backswing. I always saw the pros have it pointing to the direction of the back of their head. Is that also related to the wrist-set at the top? thank you.

Thank you so much for this video! Do you have a video on what the wrists need to be doing between P6 - P8? I've come across way too much info online and have really grown to prefer your style of teaching. If you don't have a video, one quick question - if we are supposed to have a wrist set at a 8 or 9 out of 10 at P6, what # should we be striving for at impact?

Between this video and understanding the wrist's job in P6 - P8, I think it will finally give me a full picture of the swing.

Thank you!

Thank you very much for your great video. It's an important matter.
I have one question (from France): do we have to set both wrist simultaneously (at the same time) or can de set our wrists (left wrist and right wrist) separetly (not at the same time) ?

Your videos are so good. I always struggled when to let the wrists break or even set them. My coach brought me to very loose wrists and l was quite not sure. But now I learned that both ways exist in parallel. Ofc I will try to stick to the Tiger way of late "setting". Is that a beer can underneath the tree btw?
