Iam a shift manager at a petrol station and we have plenty of drive off if we get all the details of the driver and have video footage they still don't want to know. All they have to is go to there address and arrest them they aren't interested at all that's our local police for you. Some interesting news there I love the look of the Renault 17 great video jim

Typical headline saying much higher costs for home charging. Reality. My 7p Octopus Intelligent Go rate has not changed. They are no doubt basing this on the standard rate. Great video Jim and enjoy Paris.

I also think the legacy automakers should start to point out the lies being told and advertise the benefits of owning an EV.

Hospital car parking around here (South East Wales) is FOC and recently EV charging has also become FOC. My wife works at local A&E on night shifts so works out well with me working from home.

NHS car parks are unfair for staff and visitors.
Staff doing a shift for 12 hours midnight paying money to park in an empty car park.... 😢

Also visitors should get at least 2 hours free.

energy prices going up isn't too bad for ev's, it should be the insurance prices if done fairly. the cost of repairing/replacing ev's is far higher than ice cars.

AFAIK most EV tariffs have remained the same in the off peak/car charging time period since Oct 1. So that headline hit piece is likely incorrect for anyone that cares about pricing and is already on an EV tariff. So, like most news headlines, id say its wrong because for the 'average' EV driver the price hasn't gone up at all. For example, Eon is still 6.9p, Octopus is 7p or 8.5p for the two EV tariffs, and so on. (Got anyway to LOL at the "as much as £27.30 over a year" if thats a huge sum).

On hospitals, when my wife was there frequently, it was possible to get the parking money back but it was a hassle and we rarely bothered. Several issues though, you need to stop people who park in the hospital for free instead of more expensive public car park or station car park, whatever, and city centre hospitals simply dont have enough parking. It is difficult to manage.

Saw what i think is the new Explorer at my local Costco this morning (ETA on sale not just parked up). Didn't have time to check it out though.

Intelligent Octopus night rate is unchanged at 7p after the price cap increase, so zero effect on my EV charging bill.

It is a shame that big international motor shows are almost a thing of the past. I used to look forward to going to Geneva every year although even before the Pandemic a number of major manufacturers had withdrawn from exhibiting. I thought about going to Paris but other than Renault and the Chinese manufacturers I don’t think there is much other representation. I know it is costly for manufacturers to take a stand but they don’t seem to do anything these days to enthuse us, and particularly boys, into owning or changing a car. I cannot but think that face with so many me too anonymous undistinguishable mid size EV crossovers/SUVs that the car has just become another household appliance costing £400 a month on 3 year finance. Fortunately EVs have had quite good representation at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
