It's not that cats view you as a mother. They are more like children. They are attached to you and you are a point of safety. Plus I find cats don't actually like being alone.

I can see that. The cat literally allows you to do anything and i have never seen him getting pissed off. That says you are a good caretaker and treat him like ur son.

They don't see you as a mom, however they do see you as their family member, and a beloved one. Following you means they love and charish you, and has an attachment to you.

Another sign that a cat loves you is that they like to mimic what you are doing as a way to bond with you like "I see you like doing this thing therefore I will also do this thing with you" they will also just sit in a room with you as a form of bonding. If a cat turns it's back to you that's a sign that they trust you.

I miss my kitty that did this. There was never a time in 16 years when she wasn't at the door when I came home. As the kids got older, they would joke on the way home from vacation about her being there, and she always was. She followed me from room to room. We joked how she was my dog. I miss her so much. She passed away in January and there is a big hole left. Cats that love you this much are treasures. Enjoy every minute.
