30% on housing, where does this "advisor" live? In most major cities people send twice that amount. That doesn't include the current increases.

The American dream owning your own home has all but disappeared. Owning a home and generational wealth can no longer happen for so many American Families in part due to Wall Street Greed. Look at who was buying up homes left and right in recent months and they have the audacity to say that most Americans would rather rent than own, there reasoning for this is, "all they have to do is call to have any and all repairs done by the owner." In the 1970s my father bought his first home for $75, 000.00 4 bdrm/2 bath. Raised 7 kids mom was the homemaker and he was the sole bread winner. What happened to the American Dream? GREED HAPPENED.

Buy whatever you can afford Now! Before you get left behind cause everything's going up while you keep waiting.

I am sorry but the solutions this financial advisor gave are not the answer to the increased cost of housing and rent. Yeah don't pay more than x percent of your paycheck and rent out x and y. Putting the burden back on the consumer while companies are charging an arm, leg and head for a roof over your head.

Not to worry, soon corporate buyers will snatch up the houses and take away that choice

They only require 20% down because you avoid having pmi if you pay less but it's honestly not that much, we put 10% or actually 8% down and we still pay less than what we paid per month with home owners insurance included than we did when we rented. A 600 mortgage payment is better than a 1, 100 payment in just rent alone

buy?? housing prices are already insane expensive and interest rates are up. They should be recommending us to move back in with our parents. Nobody can afford renting or buying.

Get 3 roommates and save a ton of money for buying a home later. House prices will come down...give it a year

Buy as soon as you can and buy what you can afford if you wait till you can afford your dream home you may never own a home. Only purchase a home with a fixed mortgage then there's no surprises down the road
