at 4:17, im pretty sure youre only supposed to copy the spigot api dependency - not the bukkit one

at the top of the page, it states this:

You should only use one of them.
If you want to use Spigot API's, in addition to Bukkit, you should use just the Spigot API.

Nice explanation, thanks! I hope you still react to comments. I'm quite new in development of Spigot plugins, but wanted to understand this dependencies more deeply. Background: I know the mechanics changed after Minecraft 1.8.9, which impacts the PVP games. So here's the thing:
1. if I implement the plugin with Spigot dependency 1.8.8, can I run it on later servers or only 1.8?
2. Is it possible to develop the plugins for newer versions of Spigot, but with mechanics from 1.8.9?
3. Does the client version need to fit the server version?

Don't forget to mention... If you are going to develop on 1.8, get ready to be blasted by the anti-1.8 gang! Happened to me several times :(
