Camcorder vs Mirrorless Camera - Which One is Better?

Today we are looking at a mirrorless camera vs a camcorder. Which one should you buy? let's find out! For this video I am using the Sony ZV-E10 and the Sony FDR-AX53 because they are very similar. Which one is the best camera type of 2023? Which one is good for beginners? What I noticed is that there isn't 1 winner. Both have their strengths and weaknesses. Both are great devices for a vlog, review, music videos, travel videos and more. Both can shoot footage in 4K XAVC-S 100Mbps. Also in 1080p at 100 or 120fps.

The power zoom options on the mirrorless are seriously lacking compared to any camcorder. If zoom is important, camcorder wins every time.

I hate that I'm just learning this and I need to get a camera for a combination of vlogging and pictures, and I need it within 30 days, but it's also black Friday. I think, from everything I've learned in the last month, I need a mirrorless that I can use for pictures and videos, because I don't just shoot videos.

You can't really compare the 2 without giving them an equivalent lens.
"focus distance" depends on the lens.
"zoom" depends on the lens.
"sharpness" depends on the lens.
"stabilisation" depends (somewhat) on the lens.

Compare the 2 with an equivalent lens, the total price will probably exceed on the zve10. This is more a comparison within a certain price bracket, which sadly is with the kitlens.
I bet you can have a cheaper body and a better lens and still produce a better image quality than the camcorder. Not talking about ergonomics and batterylife.

U really need to understand the different types of lenses and focus features on the 2 cameras. ANY camcorder uses a parfocal lens which I think is better at maintaining focus on a particular object throughout the zooming process. I might be wrong on exactly how it works, I just know it is a big difference in how and what the 2 cameras are used for

Ax53 is better. Zoom, bulit in gimbal, longer battery life, nightmode.

I loved camcorders, especially with a 1 inch sensor. I'm on the fence between the Sony AX700 and Canon XA70. I'm a Sony fan but the focal wide of 29mm of AX700 is too thigh for a talking head compared to XA70 with 25mm. My main usage will be for family travel. What's your opinion? Thanks.

Video Camera seems like going to be history soon. With action, 360 and smart phone etc, hardly any traveler willing to invest on a video camera. Not to forget drone users, time have change. Maybe phone might took over camera one day :(
