What are the differences between a MRI Tech and CT Tech ? | Which Career is for me?

Today I answer a question from one of my subscribers. He is a senior in high school and he is wondering what are the differences between a MRI technologist and CT Technologist. He is thinking of going to school for one of these modalities or both! This is a deep question and we can go on for hours. I brake down some of the major points. Below is the article I reference.

oh man i am also in school and i have always wanted to be a CT and MRI tech forever ! thank goodness for this channel

CT is very fast paced.. if you do MRI first, you probably will NOT like CT. But to correct your video, CT and MRI are now about equal in pay.. if you look up the job market right now, there are far more CT job openings and so that has made the pay go up. I prefer MRI but I did CT 1 to 2 days a week at my last job. HATED IT.

Also you better be good at IVs for CT lol. Fast injection rates. We love some 20 and 18g 💕

CT is extremely high paced. Besides our cardiac and biopsy or drainages which can take longer. Trauma and stroke is my fave part of CT. Lol at the part when they show up at the door. Neuro loves showing up without calling haha. But I enjoy MRI too. I will say that a background in CT is extremely helpful when getting into MRI. I know it helped me so much

Can someone please explain me what is the difference between MRI technologist and Radiologist Technologist? And which is one is the better one? I heard if you study only MRI technologist, you can only work with MRI. But if you study Radiation technologist you can learn MRI and it’s easier to transfer to MRI, is that true? I graduated xray school in 2012 been doing mri in an outpatient setting in Dallas TX for about 3yrs.
Any ideas how I can get some cardiac mri exam experience.
We don't have those exams at my facility.
Just a side note about me,
1. I'm 55y old
2. Radiology is a change of career for me
3. Currently also PRN for other outpatient facilities
