AIR FRYER APPLE BUTTER GRILLED CHEESE! Warm and crispy, it’s way more exciting than cold lunches, especially in the fall!
FULL RECIPE below.
This cozy, fall-inspired grilled cheese is made with apple butter, fresh apple slices, cheddar, and sage. You can add sliced turkey for protein or keep it vegetarian. I love to make grilled cheese in the air fryer, because it’s super fast and turns out perfectly golden and melty every time, but of course this works on the stovetop too!
YOU’LL NEED:
-4 slices whole wheat bread
-¼ c apple butter
-½ T chopped fresh sage
-2 oz sharp cheddar cheese
-1 firm tart apple, thinly sliced
-1 T light butter spread, for cooking.
Spread apple butter and layer the cheddar, apples, and sage on the bread. Butter the outside, then air fry at 360°F for 5 minutes per side until golden and crisp! I like to secure my air fryer sandwiches with toothpicks prior to cooking, then I remove them when I flip.
