Where should I start as a beginner in motion designing....I can't understand how to start and before this I have made some things according to the tutorials e.g a room but I also have made a corridor or a lamp post etc....

#1 was a big one for me at first, but I didn't have too much trouble overcoming it...that said, the process of overcoming it was laborious and frustrating (basically trial-and-error moving keyframes around until they worked) until I came up with the easiest most obvious trick. With all the hand waving I thought you were gonna mention it too but I didn't hear it (or maybe I just missed it): try to act out the scene yourself exactly how you want it to look and time it with a stopwatch that has a lap timer function (any smartphone should be able to do this with the stock timer; if not then just find an app you like). Act out your animation and hit the lap button every time you think there should be a keyframe...now you're not just guessing how long your scene should be and where your keyframes should be, you've got hard numbers that are pretty close to where they actually should be. If you're doing camera movements, you can set up a can or something and film it with an actual camera, then just watch the video.

Also thanks for the last one about not using dynamics as a crutch...that one hit me a bit hard but I definitely needed to hear it :P

My biggest animation mistakes lately have been not layering my animations within the composition so there's no break in motion eye candy. If everything starts and stops at the same frames, or have dead frames, it gets boring

the camera thing happens to me so much in after effects because the preview is not real time and i never think about that so i tend to do test renders constantly
