The Audi A4 is probably the most popular Audi car in America. These cars get tossed around to different owners throughout its lifetime. Because of that and neglect, the 2.0T specifically can have quite a few issues that can truly break the bank. In this video I breakdown the common issues on the Audi A4 B7 from 2005-2008.
Hopefully this video will help you out!

Read this:
The 1.8L and 2.0L Audi A4s from 2005-2008 actually have a timing belt. The 3.2L, 2.7L and the 3.0L V6s engines have a timing chain.
The B8, however, all having timing chains besides the 2.0L TDI I4. Sorry for the confusion everyone!!
The stretched chain was still an issue throughout the two models.

My 2007 A4, just hit 199, 000mi today. I purchased the car at 180, 000 mi with a ton of codes, most due to cam follower.
Also needed cam chain tensioner. Did T-Belt too and PCV delete. Car works great I daily it and drive at least 50Mi each day. Just as an FYI, I purchased mine for 500$ USD. A killer deal for a running driving car with a few cam follower codes (Mine was the 0087 one)

Spot on! on literally all of this. i'm at 220, 000 miles and still going strong. Original clutch was just replaced 5000 miles ago. Pretty amazing if you ask me.

I got a 06 A4 2.0t with 150, 000 km and never had any problems except a problem with the seatbelt sound ringing even when the seatbelt is plugged in. Luckily it was a fairly easy and inexpensive fix!

Bought a 2005.5 about 6 years ago. Normal maintenance items have been done. Had a cam chain tensioner fail and did the cam follower at the same time. Bought at 125k now has 205k. Recently picked up a 2008 Audi A4 s-line with 175k. For $1000. Blown cam follower, wrecked the fuel pump. Actually drove home just no power haha. Found most of the pieces and then a magnetic drain plug caught a few more. Car is still doing well after 10k miles.

just bought my 2006 audi a4 3.2L and it's been good so far. gas is good, fast and fun. Check engine light did come on but I believe it's because I was cleaning the MAF sensor so I think that's why but other then that it's amazing so far

I'd add rear coolant flange to the list of common problems on the 2.0 B7 as well. Owned two of them, and both had the leaking flange issue crop up around the 85k mile mark.

I have B7 1.8t quattro avant, and i can say that its one of best cars, that you can get under 10k. Ofc depends where you live. Greetings from finland.

you helped me diagnose my dad's Audi A3 2.0 tfsi 07, we thought they were the fuel pump, now I know that it is pcv that is open

Cam followers are cheap on eBay and easy to install. I Keep an extra one in the trunk. That and the timing belts are the most important to maintain the engine.

This is incredibly helpful. I am going to go test drive a 06 Audi A4 T with 118k miles tomorrow evening, and these are all good questions to ask the owner, especially the cam follower. Really appreciate the knowledge.

Thanks for the video!
What can you say about the 3.0 ?
I'm about to buy a 2005 but it's been sitting for 3 years and it has some misfire issues
I'm thinking it's only spark plugs and coils
Thanks for your help 👍

He said cam follower easy to change lol yeah I think the 1.8t are far more reliable than the 2.0t. Biggest thing I would make sure previous owner changed the timing chain before purchasing or make sure the price is reflected on that. It can be costly if you are paying a shop to do it for you.

#7 - I'm a bit confused here. The EA113 2.0 TFSI engine uses a timing belt at the front, not a chain at the rear. There is only the secondary chain drive for the second cam at the rear - but, yes, that can go bad.
