OKAY SO some of you might remember a few months ago, I traded my beloved Sony 24mm f1.4 for the Sony 24-70mm f2.8. AFTER USING THIS LENS FOR 6 MONTHS, do I REGRET THE TRADE??

This makes a ton of sense because you ended up with a lens that fits your needs better. Appreciate you sharing your process 👊🏻 still here

I think you made a great choice Terry! I started a business with a 24-105mm lens almost a decade ago. As much as I love fast primes, time is money - being able to walk into a client shoot and quickly capture wide / mid / tele shots on the fly as things are happening is what gets the shot most of the time.

Just want to boost your motivation by saying that i found myself watching your videos from start to finish without even skipping sponsor mentions. I actually noticed it. A the reason for that is the way you talk, your tone and pace, it's just pleasant to listen. And of course the picture quality. You rock man! I can definitely see you in top tier list of Youtubers soon. Keep it up

I’ve been shooting with the 24-70 GM since it came out, and love it. Yes the primes are awesome...I just bought the 20mm f1.8 G lens and love it. But for walking around I always go for the 24-70.

If I can have only one lens, it is 24-70 f2.8. But if I can but couple lenses, I definitely go primes. My opinion, people believes primes are harder to shoot with, but when you zooming, you should understand what are you doing. It's not about distance, it's different perspective. It's harder than you think. So you should choose focal distance first and then take a shot, but people like zooming in and out and just trying take some shots, without stepping back and forward.

20 1.8G is better than the 24GM IMO and I've owned both for some time! Now I use the 20G, 24-70Art, and 85GM, dream team <3

nice work bro ... I went W the Sigma 24-70 & the 24 1.4 for close to the same price as the Sony 24-70 by itself

You know this is a heavy-ass lens when I purchased the 16-35 GM lens and I thought it was "light". I do love my 24-70, wish it was lighter but sometimes it's just the lens I need.

Still here! I just did a similar trade, 135mm 1.8 GM for the 24-70 straight up. So far no regrets, it's more practical and less stressful using zooms for paid work but I still prefer primes for personal use.

With purchasing any camera gear, you first need to decide what you need the camera gear for, as far as what content you specifically create. And then obtain the gear for that particular NEED. Big difference between wants and needs. You made the right choice for your needs, the convenience of the zoom fits your needs better like you said "you're tired of the constant lens change

As long as you are happy that’s all that matters. Very good trade. I started with the 24-70 and 70-200 f2.8’s and now I am mostly all primes, but hey that’s me. I have been thinking about the 24mm f1.4 gm but I don’t know how much I will use it seeing I do more portraits of seniors, and couples than I do weddings. So I am on the fence on getting the 24mm.

You made a great trade based on value alone but I'd personally rather have two primes than one zoom.

I have both the Sigma 24 Art + Sigma 24-70, I used them both on a recent video shoot and instantly could tell how much better the prime is. I feel like they both have a distinctive function in your bag. Paid vs Non Paid especially!

In my canon days 24-70 was one of my fav all purpose lens. Just got a Sony A74 yesterday and today I’m picking up the sigma 24-70.

I just got the sony 24/70 2.8... I am impressed. I also have the 16/35 but this seems to be more what I need. I am happy but I do wish the zoom didnt barrel outward. makes it challenging on a gimbal for balancing purposes but still worth it. also, if they do make a mark2, I also will upgrade

As much as I love my primes, 99% of the time I just keep my sigma 24-70 and tamron 70-180 in my backpack. They're both ridiculously sharp, great contrast/resolution and for the vast majority of what I do f2.8 is more than enough. If I could go back to when I started my lens collection, I'd have held off buying the primes (I was led to believe that primes are always going to be better than zooms) A 24-70 is an absolute workhorse of a lens.

I have a bad habit of never getting rid of gear until its obsolete or of no value. The pro, once I own something I never regret not having it. The con, I sit on stuff I never use and never get any compensation for selling/trading it.
