I see what he is doing but he should’ve applied the Teflon the right way and used one side of the roll to fit in between the threads and go around and now you have Teflon down deep in between your threads and apply pipe dope. Now if you don’t believe me take the fitting apart and you’ll see the Teflon still in between the threads

Clearly they don't know what they're doing. All real plumbers know you put putty on the threads and then do 6 and a half wraps of Teflon over the putty, this holds it in place. (Grey Teflon only) Put some rain or shine PVC glue on the inside of the fitting to make a perfect seal. For black steel, you use ABS glue cause it's black. Matching colors helps prevent gas leaks.
