Stop Wearing Fragrance Wrong (How To Apply Cologne The Right Way)

Показать описание
Most guys are applying cologne incorrectly. Here's the deal: if you're spraying a $250 fragrance into the air and walking through the mist, you may as well be pouring it down the drain. The same goes for you guys who spray it on their wrists and then rub them together. The fact is, most guys aren't taught the best method of applying fragrance. They fall into bad habits and waste their hard-earned money as a result.

Hey I'm woman and hoping the info on this video applies to me as well as men. This is the most informative video I've come across about the where, how, and why of wearing fragrance. "I want to be discovered, not announced" is definitely my style. Thanks for the video!

I used to only wear fragrances during special occasions but then I was talking to my friend one day and estate sales randomly came up. She said it was kind of sad to think about, but that she knows so many people who get really nice, high end fragrances from them. After that she decided to wear something from her collection almost everyday because you never know how long you'll get to enjoy something like that. I agreed with that sentiment and I also started wearing mine everyday, especially my favorites. Like Antonio, I enjoy them and they put me in a good mood, so why not :)

I appreciate your info. However, having been trained by the various parfumeries, we’ve been taught that fragrances also interact differently with body chemistry and most companies highly encourage that fragrances should be used on the body rather than on the clothes- it’s kinda like just spraying the fragrance on an already used blotter card. Specifically because laundry detergents also have their own scents (which can counteract with the scent you use).

I watch a fair number of fragance videos. I think this the first time I hear a clear argumented explanation about why rubbing fragance is not good. Saludos Antonio

I’m only 16 and still in high school, but I found this video because I want to smell good… overall, I learned a TON from this video. Thank you so much!

"...so that the world will start to smell better." Liked the video after that! I've been interested in various scents since I discovered Polo Double Black in my grandfather's cologne cabinet as a boy. I'm pleased that you take being a classy and well-groomed gentleman so seriously, we all should.

Just found your videos today. Thank you for putting together this content. I used to take great pride in how I dressed and took care of myself. Over COVID I gained 50 pounds and now I work from home. I have found that I no longer take care of myself. Your video on what heavy guys should wear really helped me. I feel like I have a renewed sense of wanting to look (and smell) my best.

What I was taught. Clean fresh scents for networking, business, or casual outings. Spray on the wrist. For dates, or romantic outing, apply on the chest and neck, usually near the jaw or ear area. Now for me personally, I like to spray a cotton ball and lightly dab to apply scents, no smearing. Keep it light, if you are applying a scent you want people to notice but you don't want to smell like you bathed in it.

1 small spray on the inside elbow of each arm
1 small spray behind each knee
1 small spray at the nape of the neck
Works every time for me, lasts for hours.

It's so refreshing to hear a YouTuber say less is more. It seems most fragrance aficionados are so deep into their special interest, they want to push their exotic and sometimes difficult scents onto everyone around them. But applying lightly is just so much more classy. If you respect people around you, it will be so much easier to earn their respect for you.

Better to be discovered, than be announced. So true, well said boss.

As a sweaty guy, this video was a lifesaver for me. Ever since I started being more strategic with how I applied cologne I noticed it stays on much longer! Thanks for this!

I like your videos because you are reaching a generation of men who have not had the kind of role models in the home that they needed growing up.

Some clarifications on naming conventions, because I noticed a few possible misinterpretations a person can make that weren't expanded upon in the video.

Eau Fraiche: 1-3%
Aftershave/Splash- 2-4%
EDC: Eau De Cologne- 2-4%
EDT: Eau De Toilette- 5-15%
EDP: Eau De Parfum- 15-20%
Extrait: Extrait de Parfum - 20-40+%

Most of what was said is spot on, however, a fragrance that says Eau Fraiche in the name isn't always Fraiche concentration. Not saying he said this, but it wasn't further explained. It can be the naming convention of a particular fragrance. For example, Issey Miyake Eau Fraiche, or Versace Man Eau Fraiche, or Hermes Tres Eau Fraiche. None of them are Eau Fraiche concentration, they're EDT to EDP. It just means a fresher version. You have to look at the concentration and not make a decision based on the name of the fragrance. You might be missing out on some great fragrances that last a long time because you've mistakenly assumed that they're of a lower concentration.

Lastly, regarding extrait de parfum as this one always confuses people thanks to companies who market perfumes as "Le parfum" or "parfum" because they know people will think it's stronger. YSL's le parfum appears to be shown as an example of an Extrait, or pure parfum (perhaps not on purpose), but it is not. It's an Eau De Parfum, not Extrait De Parfum. Just like JPG's Le Male Le Parfum, Sauvage Parfum, Eros Parfum, Bleu De Chanel Parfum, etc etc. All of these are Eau de Parfum and not Extrait de Parfum. There's a ton of frags with this name attached to it that aren't extraits. Some are even EDTs. You get the idea. They're just naming conventions made to trick you into thinking they last longer. It's pretty rare to find an extrait strength perfume from a designer house as that's often niche house territory, so don't be confused by the "parfum" name the designer brand adds. Nasomattos 30ML of Pardon, for example, is a true Extrait de Parfum from a niche house. (Highly recommended ultra masculine frag btw)

Bonus tip: As an alternative to the neck, right above your collarbones under your shirt is one of the best locations to spray as they're high heat locations because they're right by the subclavian arteries, and unlike the neck, is hidden from light, so they will pump out your fragrance harder, while also lasting longer. Fragrances when exposed to sunlight dissipate and breakdown quicker. (also why it's best to store fragrances in a dark location, or at least away from sunlight. Artificial is fine. UV is the issue.)

Hopefully this helped anyone new to fragrances. Cheers!

You learn something new every day...up until this morning I did the rubbing thing. Great advice and passion - no wonder he started his own range of colognes!

I'm a woman but... same thing right? My perfume never seems to last and this is the best presented video I've found so far, even if I'm not quite the target audience 😅 Thank you!
