Before seeing this, I can't be the only one who thought the USB was somehow being used to program the car to start lol.

Back in 2018 when we last purchased a vehicle, we weren't even thinking about a Kia. Our Lincoln before that (which had gremlins) had us RUNNING 🏃‍♂️ to a Honda dealership, because reliability and quality was our #1 buying criteria. We accepted responsibility for buying junk before and vowed never to do it again. My point is that although we couldn't have possibly foreseen a friggin tik-tok challenge made possible by crappy Kia quality, junk usually follows more junk from a company, just in different forms. In spite of theft challenges, fires, and other embarrassments, this company is breaking sales records mainly because their cars "look good." Consumers are so silly.

I drive a Mazda3 with a key ignition. As far as I know, it can't be stolen like this. In fact, it's very unlikely to be stolen here in the USA because it has a manual transmission! 😂😂😂😂

Lost mine this way. Totaled due back orders on dash, ignition and glass parts. The impound lot was full of Hyundai and kias

So this only happens with the Kia and Hyundai with a key ignition, right? Then the new cars wouldn’t be affected unless they have a device?

Man I still miss my Hyundai so much. Had to get out of the loan so ended up selling it. Not making payments is amazing and owning my own car but my black Sonata was nice

this just happened to my car, a Hyundai Sonata. A mechanically inclined, but I’ve never worked on broken parts before. Can anyone advise me where I start going about fixing this? Insurance is not covering this theft claim.

One of the recalls they use on older accents is literally JB Welding the key part to the ignition cylinder and then JB Welding a metal cage over the whole thing lol

I fix this cars all the time best way is to get a steering wheel lock old school by the time they try to take that off they will just leave as soon as they see it I got a couple of people to get it they break their window but they don't take the car the windows are expensive now but you don't got to pay impound lots

Luckily my Kia is push to start. I still find it crazy my old ass 95 Nissan Hardbody came with an ignition lock but a "modern" day car doesn't?? Stupid designs like this is why my Kia insurance is so high compared to other brands.

My 1998 GMC has Theftlock. They've tried four times to steal it but have never been successful. How does a brand new, hi-tech car not have a security system, yet, my 26yr old truck does?
