As a software developer, I want a Terraria 2. I understand the engine limitations and really hope they switch to something that allows them to go absolutely bonkers with content and boss fights. The bois over at Calamity have been doing a lot of cool reimagining of mechanics, but they too are weighed down by 15 year old technology. The coolest biome is the rainbow with the giant meowmere. XD

the problem with the current game isn't that Re-Logic doesn't want to keep working on it, (I feel that given the last couple of years that part is obvious, ) but rather that they physically can't. The engine Terraria is running on is from like 2010, so the fact that they've kept it going for this long is pretty impressive on it's own. I will happily buy the sequel game if/when its released.

The people who don't want Terraria 2 but instead just want Terraria to keep evolving seem to not know that Terraria's current engine has its limits. Whereas if they made a Terraria 2 from the ground up with a new, modern engine they could add way more things, mechanics and features to it.

I just hope they don't change the art style, it's what made me enjoy the game for hours on end. Ofcourse I'd love to see them add graphical improvements such as lighting or shaders etc. but I myself was put off by the visuals back when they announced otherworld!

Something I love about Terraria is how quirky things are. There is an ice cream biome next to the underworld, which is also next to an deep acid-filled temple.

By far, I'm most excited to see an expansion of the space biome in terraria 2

When looking at the underground desert I got the impression of a new "oil" liquid, and I think that combos really great with chippys, "mechanical biome" idea

I wasn't ready for this! While the concept seems kinda crude and rough, it gives a great idea on what the terrain generation and the overall atmosphere/textures of T2 could look like.

I would love to see a sequel instead of just adding more content to Terraria. It would give the devs a chance to start fresh and use everything they've learned from the past decade to make a whole new experience. I'm sure no matter what they decide it will be great.

What's wild is that Terraria never lost popularity. I remember playing it on PS2, on PS Vita, on PC, on Mobile, on Steam Deck... and doesn't matter how many thousands of hours I've played it - it's always nicely refreshing to play it again. I hope T2 is going to happen, and I hope T2 will honor T1 and be a true successor, rather than a brand new spin-off from T1.

I would absolutely love to see a Terraria 2. Re-Logic has consistently said they can't add things they want to because the engine is limiting them, so making a sequel in a new engine could allow to do just that.

I definitely think a rebirth style ‘sequel’ for terraria would be amazing. If it can keep the same identity and feeling of the game, but just expanded and reduxed, then it would be a great idea

Some of these biomes potentially could be part of different dimensions within a world itself. I know Minecraft and Terraria are separate games entirely, but taking from example of Minecraft, how they have different dimensions to allow for different biomes, Terraria could take that to another in depth level and actually have complete new dimensions to explore and progress in as part of the overall game progression. I think that would fit Terraria in my opinion. Maybe that's what the Circular portal looking thing underground is hinting at in one of the concept squares.

New major biomes up in the sky and down in the underworld layers sounds amazing to me. I love this concept.

0:17 this map gives me Noita vibes. Really excited to see how this will change and develop over time!

The upside down heart freaks me out. It’s so different from the other biomes in that it is very empty and seemingly deep in the earth. It’s emptiness which makes me think there could be a boss to fight in it which could definitely take on a creepy appearance

Back when I first started playing terraria, I told my friends how I got on top of a big tree and they asked if I had gotten to the sky islands yet. I hadn’t, so what I was imagining was something close to this drawing where it’s a whole big layer of clouds with like a bunch of buildings on it. It would be cool to see that really happen in terraria 2!

Honestly, the way that rough map was laid out kind of reminds me of how the game Noita generates its maps.

I'd love to see more in a Terraria 2. I mean I feel like thats a really shallow take on what you'd want from a game but its true. Longer endgame, more to explore. Just more. I'd really enjoy if they tried to keep the environment a factor. What I mean is, some of my favorite parts of Terraria is exploring and struggling to explore. It can be frustrating but its rewarding to take your place in your world. But very quickly after early hardmode you pretty much run out of places to explore, and you can really go anywhere. I'd love if some areas were simply super dangerous from the start, like how the underworld is basically off limits until you're a bit geared up. So certain areas are simply too dangerous to explore properly until endgame even.

Reminds me of Noita's map. Which is a compliment. Noita is a sprawling world with tons of hidden crevices that are a joy to explore. Feeling so deeply connected despite being maze-like.
