From Arizona here.
When she stated "I will always honor tribal sovereignty and respect tribal got some tears going.
In Arizona, we have the largest reservation, as well as the largest population of Native Americans remaining in our country as of now. What has been done to our Natives from the beginning has been nothing but genocide, followed by treaties broken whenever we saw fit. Run them over in schools, and treat them poorly in the communities our reservations are in. (Camp Verde where I am from and live being one such place)
To hear a presidential nominee FINALLY say what she my heart good. We need to start respecting our Natives rights, sovereignty, dignity, and ability to maintain their own communities. And we need to stop trying to circumvent and take over every time we think we know better than them. Most of these tribes have walked this land for thousands of years before we showed up. I think they know how to live and govern themselves here just fine.
