Switching off some lights for an hour is counterproductive. It doesn't cause any of the fossil fuel powered plants to emit less pollutants, yet grid operators in the UK found that the power spike when everything is turned back on causes fossil fuel generators to kick in. Well done, you've just contributed more to climate change than if you simply did nothing.
