Basically a mini PC that you can pack into your bag and move between office and home, but can still do some work on the train. Not a bad idea, but they’ve used a standard tablet screen format. Had they used a taller screen, it might have been easier to write emails/documents on. Understand that they’ve used what’s available, but it does limit use cases.

i was hoping the review would address linux. how well can it run arch? debian? ignore ubuntu because most reviewers always do that for linux and call that a day. a bsd review would also be a unique thing to see if it runs.

Man this reminds me of my old Acer Aspire 1 I had way back in like 2009, 2010.. Loved that little machine. Was even able to play WoW on that little thing, lmao

Okay, I get the complaints on the high price on a 1250U. But if this ever came with a Z2 Extreme-ish chip, you better _believe_ I'm grabbing one.
- I didn't see vents on the bottom, and my favorite way to game is on the bed, laptop on my body. I wouldn't be covering any underside vents
- I love my Ally, but lifting it and keeping my arms bent towards me gets tiring. I end up playing on my laptop (4070-powered oven lol) more.
- On the airplane, this looks like the perfect size to put on the tray table. Even bigger plus is the fact that you can pop the screen forward.
- If AMD, then most of the games I play either have native frame-gen or frame-gen mods that are compatible with AMD's drivers & iGPU.
- Haptic trackpads have ruined other trackpads for me. I don't plan to use this other than a tertiary consumption device, but it's nice that it has it.

I'll pass given the weak Intel chip. But if they ever make an AMD version, preferably with a chip newer than the Z1, my Ally may not be with me for long...

Intel core Ultra or Ryzen AI in it would be interesting. My main complain is the size of keyboard.

2 years ago, when my Mom borrowed Laptop from her school, it was just the same as you reviewed there. During that time, I was like addicted with that guy. Very handy, I even use it while massaging my Dad 😅. I think that's the good thing of mini Laptop (previously called netbook)

I tried 990 pro and wd SN850X on my laptop it reaches 83 degree on load is there any ssd that run cooler even pcie3.0 2280 is fine for me thanks in advanced 2280?
