Oh boy, do I need this video. I grew up with baby oil and lake life. Obviously not in decades, but I'm needing this! ❤

This topic is so timely. I spent so much of my early years up into my twenties outside in the sun, without proper protection. The solar lentigines are present on the backs of my hands. I wish I had known the lessons Dr. Dray shares about sun protection earlier in life.

I'll get them on my forearms and hands. I've found that if I apply the Ordinary 7% Glycolic Acid a few times a week, all over my arms and hands, followed by moisturizer, it really keeps my skin looking free of sun spots and clear and pretty. Easy and cheap.

Hands are a dead giveaway of age. At 67 I have no sunspots on my face, and I contribute that to approximately 3 decades of some sort of retinol and always sunscreen. I had no age spot on my hands until about 4 years ago, then a few started popping up. I have had a couple frozen off which did the trick as I am fair skinned. After showering in the morning, I use Alpha skin care lotion 12% glycolic acid to my hands and arms. At night I mix a pea size of my tretinoin with my hand lotion and rub it together on the back of my hands. I always wear driving gloves also.

Dray is always on time with her videos. It’s like she’s reading my mind. I can’t even tell you how many times I was having a problem and boom, next day the good Dr has a video about it.

BBL (broadband light) laser - 3 sessions took away most of the brown spots and freckles on my face - and I was an 80s sun worshipper! 😊

Dr Dray you are the most amazing person ever!! I always watch your videos during night time when I am doing my skincare. I have been watching you since I was 17! Back when I was stubborn and refused to wear sunscreen, now I am 23 and I can’t go a day without applying it. You are the best!!!

Hi Dr Dray, I've noticed that many of your videos mention oxidative stress as a factor in aging, pigment issues, etc. I would love to see a video dedicaed to information about oxidative stress--defining it, discussing the ways in which it affects the skin, and various ways to combat it. I learn more and more about it as I watch your very knowledgeable and informative videos but a video dedicated to oxidative stress would be really helpful and informative. Thank you for all that you do, I appreciate the detailed knowledge and advice you share with your viewers!

Florida native, no sunscreen, baby oil…lots of damage at 66. 😢 Nobody knew back then the price we’d pay for all that fun in the Sun.

I've tried many of these treatments and I've found TCA chemical peels (spot treatments) to be the most effective, least painful and least likely to leave a scar. It's a slow process though.

I had spent so much time and energy since 12 trying to get rid of relentless acne and skin problems and Dr Dray was my savior!!!! And for free!!!! Three different dermatologist for years under treatment and at 30 I found her and in less than a year my skin looks better than my whole LIFE. It makes me so happy to see her looking so good and the following she's gathered. It's completely and utterly well deserved. ❤

I was surprised you did not talk about tranexamic acid. I know you have talked about it in previous videos. I started using a Paula's Choice product for dark spots that incorporates tranexamic acid a couple of months ago. I started seeing results within a week! I only had a couple of small dark spots, but they are almost totally gone now. I only use the product once a day and have been very impressed with the results. The tranexamic acid has worked quickly and caused no side effects.

I use the driving gloves you suggest. Been using driving gloves for ~10 years. I also use them now for running to protect my hands.

If only I could go back in time and tell my teenage self what the consequences would be of sun bathing covered in baby oil. Would I have paid attention? Probably not. I thought I was invincible back then and pretty head strong. Lol! I can only take the information I have now and do better and also encourage other people to use sunscreen. Happy Thursday, Dr Dray! I hope you have a tranquil evening. 💞

Happy Thursday everyone ! Finally, after months of being consistent using Naturium Retinaldehyde Cream 0.10 & Good Molicules Brightening Toner, my sun spots are lightening up. I don’t use them together. AM & PM. Always sunscreen. I don’t want to undo what took so long to accomplish. Living in NV, I always use SPF 50 PA++++. Thanks Dr. Dray for your advice. So many other options to try ! 😃😃

I have age spots many places. The backs on my hands were covered with them (I am 72 and a former sun worshiper). I put hand cream on my hands before bed and about two years ago I started putting a little Tretinoin on afterward, the backs of my hands have really lightened up. I still have age spots but fewer and less noticeable.

Thank you! I’m going with the topical gel and lotion options you listed. Laser treatments and skin freezing sounds dicey lol. 🎲

Thank you for this very nuanced explanation. I do wish some of the OTC products were available in Canada. I hope Gold Bond Retinol becomes available. My face and hands are very good but I would like something more affordable for my body.
