I’m a new swimmer, your videos helped me so much, I’m 59. I was swimming at my local pool this summer, (West end of Toronto) a few weeks after the Olympics, I was in the medium lane, then in the fast lane this young lady started her laps, her speed was insane, it turns out it was Summer, when I had a chance I congratulated her. I honestly could not believe seeing her speed in person vs on TV. Thanks for your videos, I have a long way to go (say…40 lbs) but I enjoy it more having improved from your lessons, many thanks

Great analysis! Summer McIntosh is like the eighth wonder of the world for me. When she swims the 400 IM it looks otherworldly!

Love how these analyses are about what the swimmer could have done better in races where they broke World record

The fancy part is so real😭thank you for the reminder. Hit the streamline before you hit the water. Got it🙂‍↕️🙌

Thanks for the insights. Much appreciated. It would be great if you focus on the wall turns. Looking at the Olympic races, it looks like this is the area she has room for improvement. Some other racers seem to gain on her. She is so amazing on the above water turns that it doesn’t seem to matter but it might help her be even more competitive and perhaps set some more world records.

I’m a new swimmer. Why should the arms be at 11 and 1 for the backstroke? Wouldn’t it be more beneficial to be more narrow/streamline and reach further back? You can grab more distance at 12.

Hello, can I ask you a question?

What is the name of the app you used in the video to draw lines, waves, and even calculate angles (the angle between two lines)?

Swimming is definitely a skill/technique based sport. Meaning technique plays a bigger role than muscle strength. Just look how skinny she is, you can even see her ribs from her back at the dive tips part. don't forget Pan zhanle and popovic are also slim.

thank you Faraz, for this excellent video but sorry Faraz, Summer Macintosh is not 5 foot 11, she is 5 foot 8 at most. Also here breakstroke is known to be the weakest in the field (as is typical of long axis swim specialists) and she is not good at it at all. Using her as an example for good breastroke technique is not soo good for the viewers.
